NA SETUP STAGE 2 Begins....

ok so lets say i am a slightly more than average "tuner" who has done intake, exhaust moved onto tb, fpr. what now? i say intake manifold from rrm and header. then to top those off an apexi safc v.2 anyone have possible thoughts what what kind of gains i could expect from this or any other ideas that would spend the same money?

from what i have heard is the safc is a waste as the lancer ecu wont add more fuel when you add more power, now you can lean it out where it is rich and you will see some gains from that. I know RRM is in the works for a new NA ecu system so you may want to wait for that. Now the safc thing could only apply to turbo guys but that is all i have really researched

And then try to tune the Haltek. . . Maybe NA stage 2 should be FI? just kidding.
What about higher comp pistons, rods, camshaft? I'm thinking internals are the stage 2 for power. I didn't see any suspension on that list. What about spending some dough on a Tein kit? how are your tires and wheels? Brake upgrades?
Get an eManage and the support tool. Get a PDA and the virtual dyno. Then help us convince Mark that an eManage tuner forum for regular lancers is needed.

I'd agree with 03RL if RPW's twin TB kit used the stock MAS. It don't. Last time I'd talked to Dave they'd shelved the project and didn't plan on going back to it. Don't know for sure though.

Yeah, you better know what the hell you're getting into or be a fast learner with extra cash and a spare car if you intend to go standalone.

beef up internals, pistons and rods, and, dare i say it, NOS it? lol, other than that your looking at pretty minimal gains, i would say go all the bolts on you can, intake, tb, intake manifold, headers, downpipe, test pipe, catback, once your threw with all that, get some really good suspension going, id recommend front strut and rear sway, then a full coilover, and if you have the money the rear strut and lower tie (just because i think it can't hurt and will provide minimal added performance) now that your car is a rock, your really out here, i would recommend emanage but even then with th etuning and such, you still will only see little results for your money, but nonetheless, be a pretty damn fast NA

p.s. i didnt add the little things, upgrade spark plugs and spark plug wires ( i know, gay, but hey, every little bit counts) and after your done with all of that, figure out ways to lighten the car, Carbon fiber

I would like to see someone get the dual throttle bodies. I was quoted a price of $750. I am more partial to boosting but I would like to see someone do it.

I WAS going to do dual TBs last summer. But RPW decided to shelf the production of dual TBs that use the stock MAS. You'll still have to tune a standalone and I ain't got that kinda time. Hell, I hardly have time to mess with my emanage.

There's no way e-manage could deal with dual TB's?

If it's the additional fuel issue, I'm willing to bet it can be done simply with larger or additional injectors.

The piggyback unit alone I bet costs about $300, plus they provide you with at least a base tune, right? I personally think it appears to be quite reasonably priced for what it does/will offer.

Hobie: eManage gets its numbers from the MAS. The current dual TB setup removes the MAS. But come to think of it, if you slipped the stock MAS in there, the 2nd TB might just lean the car out to stoich (right now, with the eManage off, I'm getting about a 9.8:1 AFR ) Could be worth a try

Maybe I'll be PMing Dave about this again.

Yeah, but people have done MAS swaps. Or you could get a pressure sensor and scrap the MAS altogether (though I don't think it would necessarily be very beneficial in a naturally aspirated situation).

As long as your TPS works, I don't see what the issue is with using e-manage.

FWIW: I just looked at rpw.com.au and it looks like all of their twin TB systems are still in development. Most of the info is presented like "we thinking about trying. . . " So I dunno if this is a viable option
