For an automatic, it will makes a bit of difference in sensation in the pull of power.

For a manual, I don't really feel it. Then again, the guy I'm riding with doesn't really go WOT.

Your bio doesn't say, but if you are not turbo charged I don't see the need to purchase the wires...unless you can get them cheap . Then again, it doesn't really matter unless it is detrimental like on my evo. I couldn't go above 5000 rpm withough major misfire. If you get them cheap go for it, I'm sure it would look nice in the engine bay. That's why I got them. Too bad I have had bad luck with mine.

Technically more detonation = more HP and more efficient gas combustion

i'm not going to get into the phonetics of daily mechanical vernacular, but most people use the term detonation as a way to describe a car that is igniting the fuel mixture before the optimal time, IE right after TDC. Detonation will lead to a blown piston or headgasket very fast due to uneven burning and the forces acting against an opposing force, the piston.

I'm sure he meant to say spark instead of detonation.

Kind of a silly question but will using bigger wires and these NKG plus void our warranty?

try reading up on SEMA rules or go ask your dealership.

You are indeed correct. The dealership will try to bluff you stating that a particular mod voids warranty. Unless, the dealership believes that they are above Fed laws. Drop the SEMA book on them. They have to prove your mod destroyed a part that is being worked under warranty.

Case against the person.
Roll into the dealership w/ NOS damage. Their mechanic spots it. You're a dead duck for voiding warranty.

You win.
If you have an intake, you take your car for premature warped rotors. They cannot bluff you stating intake caused premature warping of rotors.

I just came across this thread and thought i would throw in my 2 cents. I've got NKGs and the magnacore wires in my 5 speed and i noticed a smoother ride at low rpms. You not see or feel any change in horse power. Don't worry about getting the wires if money is tight. I do recomend you get them but you can and put the plugs in without the new wires. Hope this helps some

As for the warranty, anything that is a maitnence part can be replaced with any brand part you want if the dealer does not give it to you free of charge (LAW). That includes exhaust pipes, mufflers, cats, even intakes and wires.

This is correct. You are free to use whichever spark plugs, oil, brake pads, etc. as long as they are within FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS!! That is the key - for Evo owners, you have to use synthetic oil of the same grade or better than the factory oil (hard to beat Mobil 1, though).

I have the 8.5s as mentioned before with the stock Evo plugs and I have no issues and a very strong startup. Subjectively, my lights seem a little brighter, too. No HP feel...

Thumbs up

Yes, there is definetly no more HP to be gained by these Items but the Ride is definetly smoother, I changed my wires / Plugs out @ 30000 miles, and the idle and ride feels like the car was pretty much brand new. But the wires them selves may not give you more HP or TQ. But it is stated (if you can find magnacore's website) that they are coated with a special material to Dampen the Electrodes from escaping the wire (very minimal amount). Basically it's saving your ECU from a Magnet like effect (kinda like when you stick a magnet up to a TV and you see the discoloration. Well it's supposed to help stop that which allows your engine to read the sensors more correctly. which is why there is a smoother IDLE, also with the spark plugs is pretty optimal, but definetly not cost effective. Also supposedly you can gain HP by putting these on, not from the wires but because your ECU will read more accurate. But it's minimal, probably wouldn't feel it. Grounding the car as well may make the difference between it all.

I've mentioned it several times in other threads, but basically the only time you'll get a HP gain from upgrading plugs wires is if your old wires were really pieces of crap and were not carrying enough current to create a strong spark. That could cause some fuel not to ignite, and you would essentially be "regaining" power by creating a more effective/stronger spark and a more complete burn.

Definetly, the only way to gain power from spark plugs and wires would be to upgrade the whole ignition system, I don't think there is one for the lancer yet because of the setup, but I have heard that AEM CDI may be compatible. I don't know for sure. everything else will just fry the system. Again for the amount of money that way spent on it isn't really a good idea, unless you decide to upgrade more ignition items down the road.
