Why doesnt it fit?!?!

Im a n00b so based on that youll understand why im having a hard time of understanding why the Injen intake only fits the 5 speed. is there more room in it or something....i think im going to regret saying that but oh well. WHY DOESNT IT FIT THE AUTO?!

If someone asks you a qusetion like that in the future you may be best off ignoring it.

The auto transmission takes up significantly more space in the engine compartment where the piping for the CAI would sit. If you could see a shot of the right front (facing the front of the car) then you'd see where teh piping runs and where your auto is lacking room. Hope that answers your question, cuz it's the only answer there is.

I read somewhere earlier about people bending the CIA to fit it into a auto. Does this significantly degrade the effectiveness of the CIA? and isnt AEM making a short ram intake for the Lancer? if so would it fit a auto? and finally my last question. is a short ram better or worse than a regular CIA? in case you couldnt pick out the questions i asked here they are in order

1) Does bending a CIA degrade the performance of it?
2)Is AEM making a short ram intake for the lancer?
3)would a short ram intake fit an auto?
4)is a short ram better or worse than a regular CIA?

DONE!

PS : That answered my question, hobie, you da man.

Happy to help. Some are far less pleased when I answer them.

1. Think of the bend as a bottle neck. Not only does it make the inside diameter less wide, but it also disturbs the airflow itself causing turbulence. Would it kill your car? No. Would it be as effective? Most likely the difference wouldn't be awful.

2. Not that I'm aware of. The CAI isn't available yet either. Try contacting them about it, but I'm pretty sure their interest is almost all in CAI's.

3. Without exception.

4. Worse only in positioning. Some of the filters they use are even larger than the Injen CAI and they can pull a lot moer air, but not necessarily cooler air. The only downside to a short ram is the temp of the air being sucked into the intake manifold.

Click here too while you're at it.

45 posts. We've got plenty of "evolving" members who are way worse than many of our "newbies". It's downright shameful.

Got some evolved ex-mods that are worse than them all

If you're able to do some "modifying" you might want to try it. or go to home depot and make your own for basically nothing.

On the subject of short ram intakes. I have the RRM one in my Lancer, and am debating whether or not to get the carbon fiber shield to go with it. Thoughts???

I love RRM, but I think the heat shield is seriously lacking. If you've seen the picture of it you probably understand what I mean. Sorry, Rob. ::ducks::

LACKING HOBIE? LACKING? Thats cool just playing. It is more designed for use with hood scoop but even without it, I like the look of real CF and it covers up all the ugly stock wires and junk. It shields some heat and traps air for the intake. If I built a full shield it would be twice as expensive. CF is not cheap and it is hard to work with. Still it looks HELLA TIGHT!
