egr valve not functioning

Hi guys, im trying to get my car to pass a smog check. I'm having difficulty figuring out if the vaccum solenoid is bad or not. Theres a steady 12 volt connection at the harness. When I turn the motor up a little to see if the egr opens the valve Does nothing. I took off the egr and it didny look too dirty. And I was able to push the diaphram in to check its function while the car was running to check its operation. Seems to me I'm not getting a proper vaccum from one of the solenoids. If anyone has just the slightiest insight to what's going on it'd be much appreciative. Maybe someone can take a picture of their vaccum line routing so I can hook it up the same on my motor. Please help. Thanks

ok im still at a stand still on my egr valve opening at the right RPM. If someone has access to a vaccuum hand pump and can run a Tee fitting between the EGR vaccuum line and tell me at what RPM your vaccuum hand pump gets vaccuum that would help a lot. Im having to rev my engine to about 4000rpm until the vaccuum line reads 3hg and spiking. To me that seems a low amount of vaccuum for such a high rpm. Someone try this out on their car and see if you get the same results. Thanks in advance.

get a turkey basting syringe and connect it to the end of the line.... pull on the plunger and see if the valve actuates... its a good start and easy way to test it

it opens and closes. But I don't think its getting enough vacuum to open it while its hooked up to vacuum line on the car. The vacuum gauge is at about 3.5 hg at 4000rpm. Which seems like a very low amount of vacuum at such a high rpm. Isn't the valve suppose to open at a low speed of 2000rpm to move that exhaust gas? if i pump and pump the EGR valve with the hand pump its at about 25hg fully open. I would think i would need more vacuum to get that thing open then 3.5hg. if someone has access to a handpump and test the HG while reving the engine up let me know what your read out is. Thanks

Theres a hand pump on the gauge. I just use that to pump the vaccum into the egr valve and it opens and holds vacuum no problem. I just replaced the EGR valve today and its opening at the same RPM around 4k.

Year to date replaced to pass emissions.
1. vacuum control valve
2. EGR valve
3. EGR vacuum control solenoid
4. All vacuum lines
5. catalytic converter

next: MAF sensor
manifold pressure sensor

Year to date removed and still passes emissions.
1. EGR Valve
2. EGR Vacuum control solenoid
3. Evap canister
4. Catalytic Converter
5. MAF
6. Rear O2 sensor
7. Basically everything else the factory installed

Fixed by turning all the codes to pass in the ECU. why waste the money

Some places will check by measuring the exhaust itself in which case no cats would be a definite fail. I am lucky enough to not have emissions period
