OZ hit 185,000 Miles... Service Time!
I posted this in another sub section, but I feel it will fit in both. If it doesnt, mods please delete one. Thanks!
Anyways. My daily 2004 OZ Lancer (manual transmission) just rolled over 185k, and I am unsure of the service done to it by the previous owner. The car runs great and hasnt given me any issues.
That being said in the beginning of January I am going to replace the following:
Gates Timing belt
Gates Water Pump
Oil Change
Coolant Flush
Transmission Flush
Do you guys think I should do the Timing Belt Tensioner while im in there? Any other recommendations would be great! Thanks!

Deff do the timing tensioner !
Just get the gates kit !
There is also no balance shafts in our motors .
At those miles might also want to check the front control arm bushing , and the rear control arm bushings !
Also change the radiator cap !

Btw use www.Rockauto.com for those parts .
Im gonna see how far I can take her. And yes, I will be using Rock Auto for sure! Ive been a customer of theirs for some time!
My IX MR SE has just over 25k miles, (got her at 17k in April of 2010, I need to keep the miles off her) So the Lancer sees most of the miles. It gets about 32-34mpg's depending on how I drive it so I guess I cant complain!

I used the Gates kit from rock auto on my 139k mile ES. Yes, do the tensioner too. It comes with the kit and it swaps over in a minute or two. My beater runs like champ! I want to find a "sport-back" now.
I can happily say that these vehicles are diehards for sure. One of my best friend had an 03 Lancer OZ Rally in the typical canary yellow color and it finally died at 225,000. HOWEVER it was not due to mechanical fault. It actually got T-Boned by a bus. Mine currently has 214,500 and it is still idling very smooth, going strong and I make sure to keep up on the maintenance.
I am a firm believer that if you take proper care of the vehicle, it will return the favor by operating correctly as it should. Always make sure to keep up on the oil changes, replacing the oil filter, replacing the brake fluid, clutch fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, keeping the tires rotated and balanced and always replacing any vacuum lines that are getting worn out and cracking.
I have randomly driven many of my friends cars and 9 times out of 10, I end up feeling much better about my car after seeing the condition of other vehicles, how they sound, how they felt to drive. Especially when my car has TWICE the mileage or more than theirs. That's just not right. :P

Im glad you guys are getting excellent results! I am excited to see how much life I get out of mine. My good friend has over 300k on his mirage but he has some rod knock action going on. HOWEVER, he still drives it on the daily and always says "Im not replacing the motor until it blows".
Im sure if I take care of mine it till last a long long time.
