Bad Wheel Hop

So, I'm new to the whole driving stick in a fun little car, but when i attempt to peel out a bit my front wheels hop a lot, and I was sure if anyone else has this happen? It's a 2010 sportback GTS. Any ideas?

In a FWD configuration the engine and tranny motor mounts allow the drive train to 'wind up' and then release the energy and the result is a sinesoidal episode that damps as traction is gained and lost. I.e. 'wheel hop'

Firmer (polyurethane) mounts will greatly improve this. BUT! Be warned! It will also have the second-order effect of making everything rattle and buzz in the car! Third order effect is buying a new car becasue it sounds cheap and nasty and drives you nuts! NUTS! (well, at least it did for me... )

If you can rev to a decent number and rather than dumping the clutch, you gradually release you can get the entire system going without putting too much pressure and reduce where hop.

It always helps to practice and get a smooth transition...too sudden and you risk breaking and rattling your front end apart, too slow and you risk ruining a clutch.
It's all practice and not making a habit out of it cuz it will wear parts out faster than normal accelerating conditions.
