Routine Maintenance Warning

Mitsubishi Lancer GTS 2010
When my car hit the 16,000 mile mark (more or less), a routine maintenance light comes up every time I start the car and flashes words in bold letters saying ROUTINE MAINTENANCE REQUIRED. It disappears after a couple of seconds but it has never gone away. Now at 18,000 miles. How do I get rid of this warning? Do I have to take it to the dealership/mechanics?

I checked the manual and I couldn't find anything that would get rid of it.
If its in the manual and I didn't find it, I apologize.

It's in the manual, I've found and referenced it before to turn off the warning. Don't remember the steps or page number and I'm at work so I can't check but it's in there somewhere.

1. get in your car
2. pull the e-brake
3. turn key to the on position
4. scroll through your menu using the info button until you come to the "settings" option
5. hold down the "info" button until it opens up the "settings" option (it should beep)
6. scroll through until you get to the "maintenance" tab
7. from there hold down the "info" button again until the option comes up to "reset" (or something along those lines)
8. "profit"
In all actuality you should get the picture but if not it is in the manual if you haven't figured it out yet
