Last opinion on my intake
ok i am ordering my intake like today.... I am going wit Injen CAI, but i wanna make sure that it is the right buy. The CAI sits pretty low and i wanna make sure that it is safe from road dirt and tire run off ect. I dont wanna have to get it repaired 1 week after i get it. My other choice is RRM, dont know much about it but i know both intakes are similar in performance and quality. WHICH ONE SHOULD I GO FOR???? My credit card awaits.
i have the injen intake, and i can see you haven't seen one in person before. if you had then you would know that the filter sits inside of this little compartment that is sheilded from 100% elements. now, if you do like i did and make custom wire grill work then you allow more air flow (highly recommended) but you aslo allow for elements to enter the compartment and expose your filter to them. but its not terrible. you can rotate your filter every so many miles to change which surface is facing front, then after you cant rotate it anymore give it a good cleaning and your back to new.
dood go with the injen the rrm one is ugly as hell i mean it works fine and everything but when you pop the hood all you see is ugly and the injen is cold air and i dunno if anyone agrees but i like cold air much much much better than a regular intake
you have obviously never felt your intake pipe after a run have you??? the pipe is almost as hot as the engine, thus defeating the purpose of the CAI... if you weant true CAI you should get an *** load of sheilding from the header and for the intake. its something ive been thinking about alot lately.
The air taken in from a CAI isn't really cold...it's just supposed to be "cooler" than engine compartment air. Truth be told there is so little difference than it doesn't even matter. If you're tight for money get RRM. If you want a CAI, get the Injen from Adventon for $200 beans plus shipping. It's really more a matter of personal preference than actual numbers because nothing's going to make a huge change in how your car accelerates or drives.
As ez pointed out though, the filter is protected and not exposed to the elements. Unless your engine compartment takes on water (in which case the CAI may not be your primary worry) or you submerge the driver's side front corner of your car you should be fine. Decide then order away.
Good luck.

I have the Injen CAI and it works great with no problems. RRM does make quality products so either one would be a good buy. You also might want to consider waiting until the first of August when AEM releases both a short ram and a CAI for the Lancer. I could be wrong, but I do believe short ram intakes from AEM are usually around $150-160 landing it right in between the price of RRM and Injen.

i got injen but im highly supportive of the rrm intake its nice and the rubber stayes cooler then the piping on the injen if you wanna get all hight tech buy the rrm and then buy a mandrel bent aluminum pipe cut a section out. buy couplers from hose techniques and make a short ram for like 50 - 70 forget how much the rrm intake was
also make yourself a heat shield and use that little intake duct from stock intake so you have a rrm/ rmr / short ram.... more bang for your buck lol

injen intake
I am lookin to get a Injen intak as well. is it a good intake to have should i put a turbo in? Did you put your injen intake in yourself and if so is it a difficult process? Also are there any other parts i need to put it on? i appriciate the help!
My intake should be her ein 2 days.( I took longer then i would of liked) When i get it and install it, Ill answer all questions u have. I have already installed my friends intake and it was a sintch, so i dont expect it to be any more diffricult for mine.
I have tried them both, each took me less then 15 minutes. It's a simple process. Personally I wound up with the RRM Short Ram and ram very happy with it. Injen was good as well for a CAI, however, I was nervous about it's positioning and realistically, the heat from the engine heated up the piping and well, I couldn't feel how it was that much more beneficial then the Short Ram. I figured, hell, I'll just get a hood with the short ram...
Personal preference I guess. Short Ram or CAI both better then stock.

About the piping... come on, it's metal... it's next to the engine... metal conducts heat. But, it's better than it simply sucking in air from the engine compartment.
And, even if the filter gets dirty, remember, it's a K&N type, so, it can be cleaned and reused. No big deal.

Agreed, there is a difference by .02125
, but in reality, its such a small difference I could not tell
As I mentioned, I went with the short ram to accommodate a carbon fiber hood with air ducts. But again, there will still be a small difference in power, hardly noticeable if at all.
It's all a matter of personal preference though. I'll drink to both
but until I get my turbo, the short ram is for me.

I`ve got a question?
How would a CAI complete system look on an automatic, not a short ram, the full setup, from throttle to behind the bumper vent. Does AEM
hav it,K&N,Injen, etc. I kno it wouldn`t fit on the right side because of the tranny, but is there another way?, I`m all ears on what any1 has 2 say, I need info ASAP, i wanna buy an intake but i want the full thing.
