Intercooler part of normal intake? (no turbo)

Anything to be gained by doing this?

I know its a little pricey but if your slowly gathering parts to go turbo I figure why not pop it in there...

I think they are considering hooking up an intercooler without a turbo until they actually get a turbo kit. Doing so would only hurt performance until you have a turbo to compress air through the longer intake path, something you really wouldn't want to do.

so instead of a lower intercooler pipe going to your turbo you would just put a filter on the inlet of the core? i doubt that would be worth anything

OK, cool. Just something I always wondered about and figured if Im looking to gather parts over a period of time, it was worth exploring.
