Talking custom heat sheild

well my buddy really wanted a heat sheild for his car, so he asked me if i could come up with something. he already had the mitsubishi MAS adapter and K&N filter on his automatic. he just wanted a little something extra to keep some of the heat away from the filter. it turned out pretty cool.

I built mine from two pieces of 60 thousandths aluminum. Press breaked the bends into it, riveted each seam. High temp coated the entire thing. I also made it a tighter sheild and eliminated the stock air inlet portion as it dead ends into the hood anyway.. so it is of little benefit.. but that's really cool that you left yours in htere. I also got it to mount down to the bottom so it is held in real nice and solid... Picture in next post.

expect about 2-3 whp.... it's not really a gains thing.. it's a breathing thing to make it so that other modifications will be more successful, the air intake in and of itself won't do all that much.

yeah the reason we left the stock air inlet (rmr style), is because at high speeds some air is directed thru the stock air inlet, so thats always a plus (again rmr style). oh and his is held down too, you just cant see the bolts in the pic i like yours too, it came out great

digdat: i actually have 1 left over (made 2 just in case). interested?

This is exactly what I have been looking for so long. My filter and adapter plate flop around like crazy. If you make me one I will buy it and if you don't wanna do you know where I can just get one? All I need is just the shield. Contact me if you wanna sell one.
