Mixing/switching between synthetic and regular oil

I have always thought it was bad to switch back and fourth between synthetic and normal oil, is that true? I know a guy that says it is perfectly fine, and he even mixes synthetic with normal oil (half and half) to save money. I was thinking about running synthetic in the winter and normal in the summer.

Anyone have any thoughts on all those questions?

Once you go synthetic, stay synthetic.

I was always told that once you go synthetic you need to stick with it. I would imagine going back and forth would probably wreak havoc on your internals.

those are myths, you can run either oil as long as it is maintained you're fine.

For me, I feel like synthetic provides better protection compared to conventional. Probably better to just switch viscosity between seasons
