I'm wondering if anyone knows of a site other than RRM where I can get a straight pipe for the base model lancer. Ilovebodykits has one and it is shown to look compatible with the es flanges but it says for evo 8/9 only. Any input or for sale threads welcome

 

One of the biggest wastes of money was to buy the rrm test pipe. At that time it was maybe $110 or so shipped?

For literally no gains, if you're NA (possibly lose if you have headers and exhaust already) I'd go to a muffler shop and have them custom make you one. And if they give you fuss about you can't touch the cat say it's for off road.

The new one I bought from them wasn't even welded fully on the inside! My buddy fixed it for me! Honestly I'd skip it unless you're going turbo.

 

I have the RRM straight pipe and headers combo which are for sale as I'm going to be fabricating a custom turbo exhaust soon. PM me if interested.

 

The rrm is still 100 shipped. Rrm has selection and that's really what you pay for. Not the gains or sound/aesthetic. That's why I want to find an alternate. How much did you pay for the custom one from a weld shop?

 

Yeah, 100 is WAY too much money for that thing. I promise you'll be dissapointed. Not just in performance but build quality. it's only 2 flanges and a steel tube! How could they get it wrong?!

Well I had a friend reweld mine. But that's irrelevant. A shop shouldn't be more than $50 tops. Anything higher is suspect. Even the guy above, $40 tops. The pipe is nothing special.

 

Want to know why I even spent that? Because they had the picture of the genises test pipe up. The nice polished bronze looking one. I said oh shi that looks kinda good, I'll pay for that! I got it in the mail and I felt like I received **** from Santa Claus. Regular old steel between 2 flanges. I was pissed! Called them up and told them I was expecting what I saw in the picture and they told me ship it back at my own expense and they'll give me store credit. The hell man?! I could have had my buddy make this for me for free! That marked the day I'd never buy rrm again.

 

And do I need the flanges?
