So I decided it to financed a 09 GTS I always liked the look of the lancer ,but the CVT transmission its just bad I hate it its so underpowered and noisy the only way I can get the car to go slightly faster its when I use the shift pads ...am I the only one who doesn't like the cvt and why would Mitsubishi used such a thing with a good looking car.

you're not alone. I used to like the CVT for what it was, a smooth efficient tranny that got pretty good mpg with out looking like a generic econo box. But after having my tranny replaced twice I lost all confidence in it and had to get rid of it.

The car is not under powered, its just the cvt saps a lot of the power that's available. I found this out when i put my 2.0L 4B11 federal spec lancer on the dyno. The 09 4b11 has 154hp at crank but after going through the cvt it put down an anemic 111whp. a 40+ hp loss ouch... Other 5 speed 2.0L lancers were pulling in the high 130s to low 140s.

Sport mode actually slows the car's 0-60 believe it or not.

Yep. Our CVT trans cars dont hit a decent power band until 3500+ rpms off the line. At least mine doesnt. Get beat off the line every time.

i have the 2014 lancer ES 5 speed, i test drove both the cvt and 5 speed there was quite a bit of difference in sound i have always preferred standard transmissions but because of the paddle shifters i wanted to try it out, unfortunately i couldn't rip into it with the salesman with me lol It was in between an automatic GTS and a standard ES, the ES was cheaper and i enjoyed the 5 speed, although driving around in hub caps wasn't really my taste those were gone very soon after i got my car lol
