2003 lancer oz 4g94...blowing ignition coil.

Fixing it for a friend.. it had a bad head gasket so it got replaced along with decking the head, new valves, ect.. So car has been sitting for months so being the nice guy that I am I take on the project. Get it all together and now the coil closest to the timing belt is getting very hot after running for like 10 minutes. I have changed plugs, wires and both coils but that one is still getting extremely hot so I have disconnected it just in case while it is sitting. Any ideas why it would be getting so hot?

Yeah.. firing order is right. Plugs and wires look good, replaced the coil with a new one and it did the same thing.

I seen the same thing happen to an evo, ended up being a bad ECU.

you check that the coil wire and the crank position sensor are switched. both coil wires should have smooth wire harness cover crank position wire has ridges in its wire loom but the plugs are exactly the same and the same color. this will fry a coil a sensor and an ECU if you are not careful!
