Injen CAI

Just to let you know....I have a Injen CAI and right where it brackets up to the engine the weld broke where the bracket connects on the pipe....a clean break where the weld goes around. Just a heads up for you guys with this CAI. I figured it was from bouncing up and down. Injen will replace it only if you have the recipt or sent in the warantee card. If youn dont have either your on your own......so if you dont have either I would put an extra support somewhere around that area so you dont have the same problem I did .

Not to be rude, but if you had done a search and set the parameters to include threads over a year old, you would have found this before you even bough the intake. I learned that at one of the first SCLC meets, looking at Richard's car. He replaced the broken mount with one he made himself, and it has been fine for over 2 years now.

No inconvenience, at least this makes a current thread so people who do run a search for only the past 45 or 90 days will know there is information fi they do an extensive search (for all the noobs, just use the pulldown menu to specify how old you are willing to look at)

I have one too and it came with a rubber mounting bracket to I guess reduce the vibration of the intake.

Problem free for atleast 4to 6 months now.

Josh, I just realized you're not too far from where I live. Off topic, but cool to know none the less

yeah, they must have fixed that issue, cause mine came with the little rubber mount too. in fact it mounts way down in behind the bumper. great design. never had any problems.

Just installed my Injen CAI i'm aboot as happy as i can be with it. one thing though, I removed the "fake grill" as i call it from the front bumper to let more air in, bad idea? good idea? i'm thinking about putting it back on so as not to risk any water getting in.. anyone have any input on this?

i did the same thing. without a shield on it be prepared to scrape off a lot of bugs, tar, grime, and road gunk. i don[t have the shield and that filter gets pretty nasty! water has never been an issue for me. only thing that makes me nervous is when i am following someone and their back tires are throwing up water on the front of the car. other than that, stay away from 2-foot deep puddles.

peace

Cool, thanks for the info man! One of my friends also told me as long as I stay away from deep water, I'll be fine... so off comes the fake *** grill

if you have the heat shield, MAYBE you can angle it so it blocks any water thrown up at the filter. Just a thought, probably won't work though.
