2003 Lancer OZ Rally, I feel stupid need help!

Hi all, I am hoping some professionals can help me out with this one. I am stumped.

My wife drives a 2003 Lancer OZ Rally. The timing belt went and ruined the engine. I purchased a donor car (also a 2003 OZ Rally) for the engine. I swapped the engines, everything is good, except one small detail.

The fuel return line; I cannot find where the return line goes on the fuel rail. The line I am talking about comes from fuel tank to front of car on driver side, slides onto a metal line that follows along the fuel rail to the passenger side, and another rubber hose slides on. I cannot find any spot on the rail itself for the return line to hook up to.

The car runs, idles, and drives excellent! The fuel pump however is much louder than I remember... They are identical engines but I cannot seem to find where the line goes.

Another interesting thing. The original valve cover was aluminum, the swapped one is black plastic.

I had a thought that perhaps the new engine/rail is return-less fuel system, but then why would it have the hard line running across the fuel rail for the return line? I can get some pics of the rail and lines if it helps.

I am hoping someone on here with more experience than me can help a brother out!

Thanks in advance.

I am now wondering if the donor engine I had out of the 2003 OZ had been swapped once before with a newer engine, with return-less fuel rail.

As I cannot spot a return fitting ANYWHERE on this fuel rail, I am thinking this might be the case.

I am getting a P0456 because the return fuel line is open and to atmosphere and this is a "leak".

Since car runs fine, perhaps I could just block the return line, and let er buck?

I am still hoping to hear from some experts on here is anyone would be so kind.

Thanks.

The return line should hook up to the bottom of the fuel pressure regulator that is on the end of the rail. Also they didnt put plastic valve covers on until 04-05. So ide say someone swapped that engine before you got it.

The bottom one with the hose clamp is the return line<br/>

Thank you very much sir!!! I really appreciated it. and yep, this is definitely a newer engine...
Ah well it works fine and runs great, I will probably just plug the return line to tank and let it be.

Thanks again man!
