Intakes

I can't seem to find stats on intakes. Hence the reason why I haven't bought one yet. I'm pretty much looking for the intake with the "most" hp gains. The only problem is there are no web sites (that I have found) which posts the intakes actual preformance marks. Can anyone help me in choosing an intake. My price range is up to $340.

Thanks

The only dyno proven intake is the Buschur. Maximum of 5 WHP in the upper part of the power band. Import Tuner doesn't exactly define "upper" nor did they provide a dyno chart but I'm assuming at the 5500 RPM peak.

If you took the time time to run a before you started a , people would probably be more inclined to since they didn't feel they did all the work by themselves.

Is it really that hard...

www.buschurracing.com Call 'em and order it. $160 for the kit. Replaces that damn air box and tube off the TB.

yea but they dont give a overall hp gain ...from what they babble in the paragraphs, with all that stuff only boosts the hp by 8...whatever...i know better than that...wish they would of given a final hp rating with everythin bolted on...everytime they added something they say it gained 7-8 hp...then why does the hp rating vary by 2 hp from test to test only increasing in 2 hp each time doesnt seam very cost effective.

with all that they put on the hp should be at at 123 hp at the wheels
141 hp on the flywheel
I hope I am very wrong..in reading the article and seeing only a 8hp dif...bleh
not for 810 washingtons i wont

why sweat gains from an intake?

my 144 injen gave me 2.1 HP at the wheels.. dynoed..

any way you look at it, an intake is an intake.. dyno proven is bull****.. AEM claims like 13HP on the new corolla.. LOL.. impossible...

I never thot i'd say this, but buy a filter from your local auto store, go to a muffler shop, and buy a short lenght of SS tubing..

(or go to jcwhitney.com and buy mandrel bent pieces)

and call it good..

are your cars MAP or MAF sensor controlled?

Well, I could care less what the final hp gain is, because in my humble opinion, everyone focuses on that too much. What matters is where you get that HP, torque, and all that. If an intake only gave me 2 whp, but then helped flatten out the powerband... I'd spend 300 bucks on it. That's what I care about.

go to aempower.com . I'm pretty sure they have the dyno results for tha CAI for the lancer. I know its not high but I get my thrills more from the new sound of the CAI than the power gains.

I trust a dyno on a product BY the company that produces it as much as I believe in the tooth fairy. The Dyno Fairy is closely related to the Guarantee Fairy (Tommy Boy)... so close they may have the Superman/Clark Kent thing going.

Seriously, though, all I really care about is the powerband. If you get your peak torque/hp before the other guy, you might have a chance of winning.

Oh, I dig. Not dissing your methods, seeing as that is quite possibly the only available dyno sheet on the net of the Lancer... stock or otherwise. Unfortunately, i can't download it for some reason.

Just putting a little disclaimer on it is all.

I cannot believe this. Someone is willing to spend $340 on an intake setup!!!

Do you realize what you are doing? If the intake setup adds 3 horsepower to the wheels to that OZ, it will be remarkable. With that said, how much are you spending for your horsepower.

$340 / 3HP = $113 per horsepower. That's ridiculous

If you are not going to turbocharge the vehicle, just spend $35 on a imitation K&N filter and attach it with a hose clamp.

$35/ 3HP = $11 per horsepower.
VERY HP FRIENDLY!!!!!!!!!
