Venom control module

so my mechanic buddy mentioned to me that venom was working on a control module (piggy back ecu) for our cars. i called venom themselves, and they confirmed it. they are DEFINATELY working on it but......no information on date of release, or perfromance information as of yet. they just started working on it, so i'm assuming its going to take some time. so does anyone have any experience with venom control modules? anyways the more products the better

does it serve the same function as the RRM Piggyback and how does Venom's normal products compare in price?

yes. here, taken from their website:* Improving horsepower up to 25% throughout the entire midrange 1,000 - 5,000

* The Venom400 is OBD II & OBD III compatible.

* The Venom400 has an on/off switch so smog certification is
possible without detection of unit.

* Easy installation with basic hand tools requiring only four electrical connections.

* Loss of gas mileage to be expected is 1-3 miles per gallon in fuel economy.

* No significant damage or long term stress side effects in long and short range testing.

* The Venom400 reduces the flat spots or delay timing during sudden accelerations.

i'll find out a "estimated price" tomorrow. i'll post up if i find more info.

The RRM has also been known to increase gas mileage and increase hp around 15% (i think). But Deng if the Venom unit can give us a 25% increase... I think we can take civic si's with that alone... now all it comes down to is the price

Does it share RRM's need for premium gas? If it lets me use normal 87 octane, I'd be much more interested...

Looks like it advances timing, so you would have to run premium gas. But if the on/off switch is easy to get to, you could flip it back to normal to use 87 when driving daily. I've never heard of the company, though. I liked my dyno results, and would be curious as to what this product would show on a dyno with the Lancer.

venom has been in the game for a long time now. they are known for their ECU performance chips, performance injectors, fuel management programs. i'd also would like to know the details as to things such as: 87 gasoline compatible? dyno sheet details? 87 gas compatible? 87 gas compatible? ....all that matters is the gas... if they can beat RRM's price...im all for it.

nice

well i happened to pick up a JCW catalog, and all of the venom 400 control modules are selling for $299. so i'm assuming we COULD base our price off of that. i'm pretty sure it requires premium gas...... as urbanknight said though, only when in use. as for the venom company themselves, they're right up there with apexi, aem, injen, greddy, k&n, msd.....etc...etc. they make excellent products when it comes to nitrous, performance modules, injectors (fuel management), and other stuff. as i posted earlier, they JUST started working on it. no dyno's, or power information as of yet. i guess we'll just have to wait and see. like i said before, the more options/parts the better.

i had a Venom400 pcm on my S-10. it gave it a little more "umff" but nothing real impressive. of course a Lancer and S-10 are 2 totally different critters. i bet you would see better results on the lancer. my friend put a similar product on his Ranger. his was made by Diablo and had basically the same features except his was an actual "chip" that plugged straight into the ecu and had a remote "on/off" switch that mounted in the cab. his was impressive, but he also has a V6.

the going price for the Venom400 is usually $299 across the board for almost all makes and models. i emailed them last year about the availability of one for the lancer and they were very vague as to whether or not they would make one. but i guess they are! they make very good stuff. kinda pricey, but good.

peace

$299 is alot better than $439 from RRM. and venom claims to produce up to 20%...as suppose to RRM's piggyback being only 15%

it says up to... that means some could produce a lot less... more then likely the ones that produced 20% gains were either turbo, s/c, or just plain big *** motors
