here's a new thought...why not save yourself all the trouble of makeing the motor fit right and alighn up with a new tranny then figure out how to make a awd config work with a fwd and simply take do a body swap
prob easier to remove the evo body and weld a lancer one on??but maybe thats just my simple mind thinking...it does solve all the petty questions on doing a engine swap...even if it doesnt line up exactally all you have to do is cut and reweld...simpler than finding what goes with what and how to custom make new stuff to make every little thing fit.

me personally...i am trying to find a way to fit a old 427 into my car...as you all say...with enough money a engine swap is simple...wouldn't that be a hoot

I hope you're not basing this on how well an Evo motor will fit into a 1996 Lancer, because that's nothing like the USDM 02/03 Lancer. The earlier Evos are much like a Mirage, so parts are easier to swap. The Evo8 and the Lancer are very different cars... unfortunately

actually i'm not. do you know of anyone who has put an evo 4/5/6/7/8 engine into a 2003 lancer? well i do. the usdm lancer is the same as our lancer cedia, absolutely no difference apart from right hand drive and a few interior goodies. the engine bay where the mounts are setup, are no different to the 96 mirage engine bay. i know what i'm talking about when it comes to evos, as i see more evo's in 1 day then you guys would in 1 year!

Then send some Evo3s to me on the black market. I would love to drive around town in a "Mirage" spanking Corvettes and Mustangs

As for the ralliart engine fiting in...that was gonna be my nest thread....my main argument that mitsu wanst gonna make two different cars and call it the same thing...for all of the 04 lancers...
the es ls and oz all still have the same motor as the 02-03 which is the 4g94...not would itsu put a totally different thing into the same body...most likely not...so everything should pretty mugh match up nicely....and an ecu to control the mivec...and the tranny shouldnt be different either...once the G69 start showing up at junk yards and we'll all have our answers...so whos gonna be the first....
though the only thing i question is if we'd be able to keep the mods that we currently have...

if you really want evo power in a non-evo, just go for an old hyundai and swap it in. mitsu makes the motors for hyundai so it really shouldnt be too bad install. plus no one is gonna expect evo power hyundai. not like anyone is really gonna expect evo power reg lancer, but hyundai would be unique.

the 4g63 (evo) would be hard as hell to drop into a regular lancer's engine bay. and dropping a 4g69 (ralliart) just seems like a waste of time to me. dont dis' kontradictions either. . . the guy has been around for a long time and has one of the hottest rides on the forums. (sad to see your lancer go kontra) to make a car look like that, u know wut youre doin. good luck with your next project! got anything in mind yet?

Is the difficulty you all are talking about by trying to make it AWD. couldnt you just drop the motor in with the stock lancer tranny and bolt up the housing? I mean you would loose power but it would still be a damn fast FWD car. The reason i ask is because i have a 04 lancer and a 03 evo motor and tranny. but i dont wanna do it AWD.
