Good morning, my son has a 2008 lancer with a 2.0l 8th vin digit "U" he ran it low on oil and the bottom end come apart. He is on a budget and I have been trying to find a used motor. I have worked for GM for 19 years, but know little about Mitsubishi vehicles. I have done general maintenance, clutch and things of that nature on this car and can do the mechanical work needed. What I don't know is the engine compatibility years. I have reading conflicting info on the web saying the 2008 -15 2.0 motors where the same and then other places not so much. I do get there may be differences is accessories so forth, but what year 2.0 engines will work in this car. I have several around me that are 12-14 model 2.0 with the same vin "U" for the engine for lancers and outlanders, but have not been able to find any that say will fit 2008 model. A 2008 Lancer 2.0 has 4B11 2.0L, which both 2009 Outlander (2012 Outlander Sport) and 2010's Mitsubishi's ASX have. So if you happen to have a 4B11 engine from a Lancer even if it's from 2008 or 2015, I believe you should be good to go.
