Thinking of buying new spark plugs

im thinking of buying new spark plugs for my automatic 2003 lancer oz rally edition... its got 34000 miles on it and im sure its time for some new ones.. im thinking the hks iridiums or the greddy's.. can someone tell me which ones i should get, and which ones i should be buying? i dont know what part no it is..

after buying the plugs.. should i get the magnacore wires that RRM has online? what advantage would it be to have performance plugs and wires?

also, does anybody know what type of oil my lancer should be taking? i just got it and i changed the oil and put 5w-30, but i have a feeling i may be running oil that isint the best for it? please let me know thanks

Advantages would be better fuel economy, smoother running engine, and maybe a slight gain in throttle response and perhaps hp.

5w-30 is fine but mitsu recommends 10w-30 if you drive in temps over 100º. I live in Arizona, and with summer coming, I decided 10w was best for me.

I used autolite double platinums, and they run very smooth.

NGK IRIDIUMS
BKR5EIX-11

goto this site... this is the cheapest I have found them.. they are $30 for all 4 and shipping is free... the 2nd site posted is roughly 32bucks after shipping... still pretty cheap I think though

http://www.importpoweronline.com/cat...cPath=32_35_43
$30 free shipping

http://www.clubplug.net/retail_iridium_ngk.html
$26 + shipping = about 32

I prefer NGKs... not too pricey and when I ran with the Bosch plats, the car ran like dung as well.

I just put in new NGK Plat's. They are under $7 each. I can tell a bit more responce, but the 40K miles may explain that. A good buy if you dont plan on racing it.

I have NGK Iridiums, but a friend who has had them longer said they didn't even last 15k miles for him. That means I have about 10k to go. I didn't notice any performance difference for $9 a plug, so I might go back to platinums next time.

k well i do plan to race, and i would like to gain any throttle response and/or horsepower gain regardless of how small it may be... any reccomendations? (please link me to correct sized ones for the lancer)..

also.. how about these RRM magnacore wires? are there only 2 spark plugs in my car? or are those magnacore wires not related to the spark plugs... please do tell, thanks

There are two coil packs in our ignition system, each one fires two spark plugs. That should explain why there's only two wires. If you don't mind spending a lot on your plugs, Denso Iridiums are good. Sorry I don't have the product number. Got mine on e-bay for $40 shipped.

Denso Iridiums are I believe part # IK-16 if im not mistaken... do a search on here for them... and there are only 2 spark plug wires because as rollerpyro said, there are 2 coils on top of 2 of the 4 plugs in our cars, so there are only 2 wires for the remaining 2 plugs.

I'll second that, I too live in AZ and we see 125+ days and in our ambulances we run 10w-40, and I run 10w-30 in the summer in the DSM.

easy to install wires simply unplug old ones and plug in new....as for the spark plugs use a 5/8" spark plug socket with rubber o-ring so the spark plug sticks in the socket I think the coils are 10mm two bolts on both..then pull up on the coil to find the remaining two spark plugs.....maybe 5-10min for install....its good in a way that we have coils and not a distributor.
