What you've noticed is your rear cat. As for removing it, you can pick up a straight pipe from Road///Race.

Go, and enjoy.

actually that muffler looking thing he is refering to is a resonator. there is no replacement pipe for that yet i don't think...you just have to go to a muffler shop and have them cut it out and weld a pipe in...but you mine as well jus upgrade your piping to 2 1/4".

u can get 2.25" piping anywhere, online places like jcwhitney and places like that, uhm local auto parts store should have some, and an exhaust shop should too. but i reccomend that u get them to get the pipe and bend and weld it in. how long is that pipe? well, its as long as u want it to be. if u want they can redo the whole exhaust or if u want they can just cut out the resonator and replace with pipe. its up to you.

about it being mandrel pipe, well, you got to think about this. i mean does the shop have a mandrel bender or is it precut pieces welded together. if its just precut and you're doing a big section, you might want to consider press bent. why u say? well, pressbent is most likely gonna be one piece. and over time, if the pipe will fail, its gonna fail @ the welds, so u might not want a million welds there. so u got to consider how much extra u paying for mandrel, how much it will last compared to press bent and the gains u'll see (not that big)

cool.. i think im gonna head down to the midas place and have them replace the entire pipe.. would be a better idea i think.. now about the resonator.. if i remove it.. will my check engine lite come on? is that something the car really needs to run? or will it be fine if i remove it..?

The resonator does nothing but deaden noise. It's like a pre-muffler. There are no checks past the 2nd cat. Your CEL will not be triggered.

as long as u get pased that second o2 sensor you dont' have to worry about the SES. hell u can jsut cut off your exhaust right after the main cat and u won't run into SES problems

If you decide to remove your resonator I hope you realize that your noise level is going to go way up. Also the tone of your exhaust will change too. And if you decied later to remove your cat, it will become painfully (ear bleeding, cop attracting) loud.

Just something to think about before you spend any money doing it. If you know someone you has remove these parts , try to ride in their car so you know what your getting into before hand.

Speaking from experience I had a custom 3" piping N-1 exhaust with no resonator and no cat, it was unbearably loud. I would set off alarms from cars parked on the second floor of parking structures. No exagertion here. So I ended up spending double the money to have those items put back on.
