The NEW RRM Fly Wheel
How much improvement in performance do you think this will make? Also if RRM could respond on the specs on this it would help out alot. Has anyone had any friends that upgraded the flywheel and if so, how much difference did it make?
I don't think they really increase any peak numbers but by getting rid of rotational mass they allow for quicker pickups. This basically makes the power come on quicker.
An example is maybe it takes you 5 seconds to get 0-60... now it takes you 4.7... not due to extra power but due to the fact that your engine can get up to speed/rpm more efficiently since it's not driving that heavy stock flywheel.
I have seen flywheels give gains of 5+hp/tq but i feel they are not really meant for that rather they are meant for what i stated above.

Are you saying the RPM's come on quicker creating more of a torque response? And also, have you expierienced a lighted flywheel in a car? Was it worth what he payed for it?
If your taking the tranny off i'd do it then. If you are just thinking of doing it as the only mod i'd wait till you wanted the clutch or lsd or both. Keeps downtime and costs low. I've been in several cars with the lightweight flywheels. Compared to stock setups they did get up and go a lot faster. It was noticeable. As far as overall power though it felt the same just got us there quicker.
You could actually see the rpms climbing/ramping faster. You really notice it more on the low end. The motor seems to run smoother and easier. Even cruising around you can tell the car has a lot more to offer. A stock setup feels more laggy like the car is pushing itself to go faster.

The flywheel that RRM sells, can that be put on by itself or are there other mods that have to be upgraded at the same time? In other words, can i just buy the flywheel and take it to a shop to be installed or do i need other componets to compliment the flywheel?
