Okay... I installed My INJEN CAI onto my auto lancer about a month and a half ago. Thing was running beautifully and everything. If you're asking how i fit it, read the threads they'll show you how. Well anything that thing was in there, and i started feeling my car funny. I was thinking it's time to clean my air filter or something. I take out the actual low piping and noticed that my Tranny had eaten Straight through the piping making an big *** hole in the mandrel.
I called Injen and the ****ers won't replace it. so i gotta go and see how i get it repaired. for now i'm just running the filter at the end of the MAF... Just letting you guys with the auto's with CAi's that this could happen to you. So make sure it isn't touching your tranny on the way down.
That's why you don't force fit things in your engine compartment. Be happy the damage was done to your intake and not to your transmission. They have a limited warranty same as any other company. Personally I don't see any reason they should replace it.
It wasn't meant to be installed on an automatic tranny.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the one built for 5spds. The other one wouldn't even come in contact with the tranny. If anything the only things it would touch would be the brake fluid resevoir and the battery. The 5spd can be force fit by bending/pushing the piping into place, and I'm 99% sure that's what he's talking about.
Andrew is 100% right on this topic. It's your own fault for forcing in the 5 spd intake into the auto car. There is not a cold air intake that currently fits into the Lancer. The tranny is simply to big. I knew it was a matter of time before this happened. Hopefully this will be a warning to the other guys who have their intakes right next to their radiator or tranny.
