Loss of Power

ok, i have a problem. my car has just over 40000 miles on it and im experiencing a loss in top end power. my trap times have gone from 84 mph down to 79 mph. im not sure if its just the hot weather or what. i think it has something to do with my fuel system and i thought it was the fuel filter, but i found out that our filters are in-tank and a part of the fuel pump. i dont know if i should try and replace the fuel pump or what. but its really kinda bummin me out so any help is appreciated.

i keep up on all my own maintenance, so i doubt thats it. i go to the track almost weekly and my car has always been VERY consistent. its just in the recent weeks that its been performing poorly. im hoping its just the heat, but i dont know.

i thought it was the heat too. but the thing is, i went from hittin 16.2-3's with 25 lb. rims to hittin no better than 16.5 with 11 lb rims! youd figure if it was the heat, id at least be able to run what i was when it was cooler. but as it is, i should have knocked off close to 4 tenths with the rims i have now, but ive only been running slower.

It's probably the heat.

Here in Florida my times have suffered a bit also since the heat and humidity have picked up.

Be patient. I think with the colder air on the horizon things will speed up again.

Oh I should add that I noticed that my 60' times are alot worse than before I don't know if tires have to do with it too but definitely my trap speeds are down.

Heat = ECU retards timing = slow.

It will go back to normal I'm sure, but it may take some time. If you want to test it you could always just reset the ECU.

Are you sure it's not just inconsistent driving? It's not hard to lose time with even just a slight change in shifting or accelerating.

im pretty sure its not incosistent driving. i track my car weekly since last year and its always been very consistent. i do remember my times got worse around this time last year as well, but i just thought it was cause i didnt know what i was doing. but resetting the ecu would work? i still havent hooked up my piggyback, so do you think i should wait until the weather cools down to really test it?
