you could just go in there and if they decide not to fix the recall because of your mods, just go to another mitsu****si dealer. if no one wants to work on your car and something goes wrong, take out all your mods and blame mitsu for not fixing it under recall .

I have: body kit, tb, test pipe, SRI, RRM axle back, custom mid pipe, 18" rims, guage overlay
oh and I change my own spark plugs... that voids the warranty to right?

they didn't look at any of it when I went in.
they replaced the fan controller and I left.

Well, personally, I'd've much rather they warrantied the paint jobs or something ;-) since I've not heard of too many problems people have had with their fan controllers, but who am I to say. Someone did say they just went in recently because it failed and caused some other damage (in one of the earlier threads about this recall). And I imagine if the fans weren't working, that would be bad (otherwise, they wouldn't need to be there of course).

I actually noted that my AC worked a lot better after getting this done.
I didn't even think about it before this got fixed.

my friend, they took note of this test pipe.
who are you refering to? if it's me, I highly doubt they noted my test pipe, I wasn't in there more than 15-20 minutes.

yeh, the guy on the phone told me it'll take about 30 minutes to do. But I did notice my fan is pretty loud from the engine bay and seems to have to work a lot harder recently. But when I turn my A/C on the car is reaaaal sluggish. But I just thought that was normal for the Lancer and most vehicles.

Alright guys. I DID IT. I got my fan controller fixed. It did take half an hour just like they promised. Watched a lil Regis & Kelly on tv in the waiting room and I was done.

I guess they didn't void my warranty. I read the reciept, and the stuff they did all read 'WARRANTY' next to it on the piece of paper. But they didn't tell me my warranty was voided or anything...but couldn't they void it without telling me?

And yeh...this recall was worth it. I tested my air, a/c and it worked better than before. My car is not sluggish anymore when I put the A/C on. So yea...

can anyone call and schedule to get the fan problem fixed. I never got any notice in the mail about this recall. Can I still call and get it fixed or is it by invitation only.

Just call the dealership, they'll look up your VIN, and tell you if you need it... y'all are making much too big a deal out of this. It's a simple thing and warranty isn't a question. It is a recall after all.

I called in and got an appointment for next wed morning when they open. I figure I'll have them look at my shocks too while I'm there since they're making a really bad creaking noise. Hopefully if they're bad I can get them replaced under warranty.

A few questions for you guys. I have a rear sway bar, anyone think this may effect them fixing my shocks under warranty if they are bad. Should I take it off before I go?

Secondly, as for the recall....I've never had work like this done....do they cover the entire cost, or will I be charged for labor or somethign like that?

it will be free and the labor is paid for by mitsu... so u show up and leave (sign the ppr work) they knocked mine out and changed oil in 45 min... not only, but they didn't seem to mind the high flow cat, cat back exhaust and the sri....
