Called in for a Recall

I got a little postcard thing from the dealership saying "URGENT SAFETY RECALL"
U guys been called in for a recall yet? Is there a recall on our 02-03 Lancers that I should be aware of?

I haven't called them yet cuz I wanted to get your input first. If it's a small recall then forget it, but if it's serious I'd like to get it fixed. BIG problem is, my car is modded so much now that they'll probably VOID my warranty the second I drive into their parking lot .

There was a recall on the fan controller within the last week or two - took maybe 30 minutes to have it replaced. It could potentially cause damage if the fan goes haywire, so I'd get it fixed. If you have damage from this failing, then they may give you warranty hassles, especially since you ignored a recall notice (not because of mods). You don't really have such significant mods to be suspicious and there's no reason they would care about warranty because you're not getting something fixed under warranty anyway.

i think i read somewhere that recalls have to be honored no matter what. is this true? but obviously a warranty can be voided for aftermarket mods.

Ralph- find out whats going on bro. give them a call. they'll take one look at my car and have a heart attack lol.

Recalls don't "have" to be listened to, but if any damage occurs from a part failing that they warned you about, you can be sure that won't be covered under warranty. Don't assume that they're going to give you a hard time - that doesn't help anyone.

So is there a recall or not? If there is a recall what is it for?

It may only affect certain VIN numbers within the model years. My fan controller (blower motor resistor) went out and I had it replaced under warranty already. They also replaced my leaking rear strut. Run a search and you'll find a link to a site that has all service bullitins and recalls listed. There are about 12 service bullitins (ranging from AC condensation in cabin to the issue described above) and an O2 sensor mount corrosion recall.

2002 Lancer
2003 Lancer
2004 Lancer (non-Ralliart, non-Sportback)

Significant mods? I don't have turbo but I do have a good amount of mods for them to void my warranty. CAI, body kit (the most noticeable mod), probably will have a heart attack when the find out I switched my cluster for an OZ one, and especially the worst of them all, the test pipe! I mean i did remove the cat, that's a biggie. I might have to risk the warranty void.

But I will call them for details and I'll repost.

CAI isn't significant and body kit is just for looks - they won't give a damn about that. For the cat, they aren't testing emissions, so I'm sure they won't care there either. The cluster is plug and play, isn't it? They may not even notice - it's not like it came from another type of car or anything... Don't be so paranoid.

I'll eat my words if they really are as bad of *******s as you say, but it will be a simple case to show that your mods can't possible have done damage to anything that could possible go wrong with your car, should your warranty ever come into question.

hope u don't have to eat your words, cuz I want to go in there without them giving me shiet and void my warranty.

They haven't given me trouble before, but that was when I had only like a grounding kit and clear reflectors. So I guess I'll just have to see for myself.
