Not to start a Subaru vs. DSM war, but...
Not dissing on you, but why you say a DSM war, Evo is not DSM...... DSM (eagle talon, plymouth laser, and mitsubishi eclispe) Diamond Star Motors. Best of luck finding an EVO for the right price. If you get one please post pics for all us less fortunate peeps that cant afford one.
I agree about the RallyXS mag... maybe thats why tommi left hehee... even tho WRCs are different... its same platform.. but i'm still looking for an EVO7 cause i can't buy a evo6
and those titanium pistons look yummy....

Sorry, but I cannot agree. The basic shell might be the starting point, but by the time they have been seam welded, have the cage put in, new suspension points welded on etc. etc. the shell is so unlike anything on the road it is not reasonable to do any comparison.
Then go through ever element of the car. It has the same engine block, but not even in the same position in the car! The basic head is also the same but I cannot think of much else!
Finally, HOK, I think your mail suggests that you would rather have a 6. As a road car, the 7 is significantly better. Don't take my word for it, read what Claudius says in his posting " I drove a LHD Evo 7 today
The only downside in some peoples mind is the looks. many prefer the agressiveness of the 6. I personally don't.

I havn't driven either therefore cannot comment on road car... I was referring to the EVO as my preference because of the look... thats your opinion.. and does not have to be mine...
tho i agree with you on the point of the shell building... one cannot say that the road car and rally car are the same, but they also are not hugely different... but once you are judging all cars in relativity compared to others.... we must use the platforms... maybe its a potential of each car and how they can grow on the platform... I enjoy highly modifying my cars and if i were to pick a car as a base to modify... (compared to the others) it wouldn't be the EVO7 therefore i mentioned the platforms....
the question that would be interesting to see is why they choose the peugeot..
also the Lancer is down with the Hyundai... doesn't that say something...

i'd get my subie... and kick ****.... hehehe minus my crappy driving skill...

You really don't get it. In road going form, nothing touches the Evo and the 7 is probably the best regharding overall capabilities. Tune anything else and then spend that money on an Evo, the Evo will still be a lot better!
The real proof is in grp n rallying and if you look at the privateers, the overwelming choice is the Evo and we have already seen Evo 7's doing well in grp n.
Try one and see for yourself. There isn't another rally based car on the list above that even comes close.

too bious ... i really don't beleive that any of you have driven all the WRC cars... i didn't say that i'm not getting an EVO7... i said i AGREE with what RALLYXS says... you don't get it.... tell me why the lancer WRC is rated so low... tell me why TOMMY left... CAUSE he didn't think the Lancer was competitive... sorry... he won't say it but think long and hard... and why would burns want to go to Peugeot... these are actions... opinions mean nothing... i'm not taking anything away from the road car... and buddy look at the cars in Group N... at MAX potential the EVO7 platform just doesn't cut it... face it....
but i will test drive one and if i have the money i will buy one... cause i want a reliable unmodified car...
remember opinions are opinions... don't get too subjective...

I have never driven a WRC car but I have driven the road legal versions that are sold to the general public of ALL of the cars on the list. I would rank the road cars as
Evo
Subaru
Ford
Peugeot
Skoda
Citroen
Hyundai
(gaps intentional
)
Strangely, if I were to list them for ease of modifying it would probably be the same order!

There are some other reasons too why Tommi left, he has been quoted as saying that he wants to drive for all the top teams if possible in his career. I agree that the 7 WRC seems like POS and probably is, but the difference between any WRC car and the road going version is too big to describe, but the smallest by far with the 7. The Peugeots, Fords, Skodas and Hyundais are not even comparable to the Subaru, let alone the 7. If you seriously compare these cars to each other and think they are even worth comparing, you should start chatting to my grandma, cause that's the level she's on when it comes to rallycars...
snelson....
your rank seems reasonable for the road cars...
heheh funny how you rank every other one the manufacturer and then for the mitsu you rank the model... but i am asssuming for the subaru you are ranking the STI right? hehe
but the road car version are not same price and either engine output or even drivetrain... not fair to the other POS... but i beleive even if they made 280hp hyundais... no one would buy them
i actually don't even know why they are rallying? hahaha....
Michaelk I agree with you too... But i'm just saying that its really coincidental that Tommi leaves this year... I'm just spreading rumors based on thought...
we are just discussing like having
in a pub hehehe
