Dropping out of the turbo game

Very much against my desires I'm being forced to leave the turbo Lancer game. After endless problems with my car, first fuel issues, then blown pistons, electrical problems to follow, leaking fuel injectors seals, and now...(for the coupe de grace) my turbo manifold has a rather large crack on cylinder #4. I do not have the money, time or patience to deal with this **** again, so I'm removing the turbo...hopefully temporarily. I'm returning the car to (more or less) stock, and i guess I'll drive around like this until I at least have some money and time again.

On a related note, if anyone has a stock cat they have nothing to do with and would like to get rid of, please let me know and maybe I'll buy it off you if the price is right. My high-flow was welded to my downpipe, so it's out of the picture right now.

The curse lives on.

Well, no one can say you didn't give it a ton of effort here... I hope you do jump back in eventually, but I imagine having a reliable car over the winter is probably more valuable by now. Will you be able to keep the pretzel headers at least or are they turbo-specific? It'd be a shame to lose something so recognizable ;-)

Best of luck Andrew. You are still an inspiration to us.

PS - I also have my stock cat, but I was hoping to actually get a few bucks for it. But if you don't get Rob's, I'll sell ya mine on the cheap.

The pretzel manifold is what cracked. I'll go take a pic before it gets dark and post it later if I don't forget. I'm just slapping on a Kamikaze header & downpipe, a stock cat, and putting back in the stock ECU and injectors for emissions and inspection purposes. Hopefully I can remove my oil feed without incident, and plug the drain fitting too. I don't really feel like trying to get a new pan. Aside from that, as long as the ECU doesn't flip out with the reading from my wideband O2 (which it probably will...so fortunately the AEM UEGO also has a simulated 1v output) it shouldn't be too bad.

Did you know that a car could take a **** on your morale? Cuz mine just did. Again.

And by the way, yes I do intend to get back on the turbo wagon, but I don't know when or what route I'll go. With any luck I'll be doing my own welding by the time I have money again, and I'll be able to fabricate my own manifold and downpipe.

Bugger... well, better luck next time then... I imagine this kind of stuff is much easier when you can do your own welding anyway... I wish I had the know-how to even go as far as you did.

This is truly a sad day indeed, Andrew. But you gotta learn when to cut your losses (even temporarily). I'm sure you can get the turbo back up and running when the time is right.

In regards to the oil lines, where exactly did you run the feed and return? Cuz if it can be unbolted, maybe we can switch cuz I'm gonna need those lines tapped/drilled for my turbo project anyway.

So even while your car is down for the time being, project t3 super 60 lives on with my car!

Because he was able to build a better kit using custom pieces. It was more aggressive than RRMs, which led to the issues that had/need to be fixed. Although the current problem - cracked turbo manifold - is nobody's fault.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
