Stupid mistakes cost lots of money...

So imagine you pull up to the movie theater in your brand new 2004 OZ Rally. The light post near you doesnt work and you cant quite see the cement block in front of the spot. You pull in as far as you normally would, but the cement block is over a foot forward from where it should be. You end up driving over it and the metal posts on both sides are stuck in your bumper and pulled off the left side.

Mitsubishi wants $740 to replace the bumper, paint it, and put it back on! I cant believe how much it costs...

I think it'd just make more sense to get a sweet looking evo bumper from a body kit for 300-400 and have it painted and put on for even less then $740. Does anyone have any suggestions on where i can find a nice looking bumper at a good price online? I've been to a few places around where i live, very few have any compatable body kits with lancers...do evo body kits fit on lancers?

I'll post pics later...argh...what a bad experience.

(i know how stupid a mistake it was, flame if you want lol)

metal parts coming out the the cement block attached to your bumper? liek the ones they use to hold the cement curbs down?
more than likely you can get the theatre to replace your bumper if you ***** and or get a lawyer. my old room mate from a few years back did that at the university we attended, and they replaced it with whatever bumper he wanted.

Agreed, but it will depend largely on if the parking lot is owned and operated by the theater. If it is on a mall's property, than you will need to go through the mall owners.

Also, don't go through the theater managment, they are only the middle guys on it. IF the theater is in charge of the parking lot, then go through their corporate office, either way it will have to go through them. No point involving a middle man if you don't need to!

There's no reason not to exercise those legal options, especially when there was inadequite lighting in the lot. Most commercial entities spend a fair amount of money to cover their asses and avoid lawsuits.

This would be a good time to call the theater and talk to the GM. Find out if they are in charge of the parking lot or if it is the mall's resposibility. By chance, did you talk to anyone at the theater about it (i.e. managment, security...(?

yeah, go for teh parking lot owners man, that's crap. a few years ago, my one of our office managers was pulling out of a parking lot in this 944 turbo. there were two spots where the sidewalk/curb dips down to street level to pull out of the parking lot. but for a length of about 5 feet it goes back up to normal curb height. it was unmarked and he just bottomed out and ripped the entire exhaust system off the car. the city put a new exhaust on his car.

you just gotta make some noise.

I would have to agree with what everyone else is saying. One great thing you could do is take a bunch of pictures. Make sure you do this before they hear about what happened and try and repair it so it looks like it was never there. Pictures hold up very well in cases like this. BTW... sorry to hear about it man... good luck!!!!

Seriously- what nerfherder said: take pics. Lots of pics. Take pics of the light being out. Take pics of the other cement burms being where they're supposed to be....
I'm a little curious though.... do you drive with your lights on at night? 'cause I'd have thought you would have seen something like that..... but hey! Take a pic and prove me wrong

Was there any other damage? Front A-arm? radiator?

Best of luck. This will either be an easy problem to solve, or a fun one (because once you recoup lawyer fees, and the other good stuff a competent lawyer would tack onto the suit you'll probably have enough for a complete body kit and some go-fast mods)
