What should you do if....

In a 5spd, i take a turn too fast. i have performance tires and racing rims and front + rear strut bars. My tires break on the turn and i lose traction. what do you do with the cluthc, gas, shift, and break. I know that if i hit the brakes i will spin out of control, so im guessing thats not the best option......

wat do u guys think. maybe a professional driver?

Drop to a lower gear and straighten out the wheel all the while tapping the brake?

I usually keep on the gas, to keep the tires from slowing suddnely and jerking the car. I actually try to do the maneuver that you're describing every day on the way home from work.
Hard left into a hard right, and I'm usually going a little sideways during the right hander (front breaks loose and the rear is just along for the ride). I keep on the gas (don't romp on it) and turn the wheel the direction I want to go (maybe 1/16 to 1/8 turn), then let off the gas just a little to let the tires get their traction back and finally straighten the wheel to continue forward. I actually think you should practice this on an empty road- get used to how the car reacts to inputs and such. Or just start autocrossing- if you're any good at it, regular driving wil rarely have a surprise for you

I don't have traction problems during the warmer months when I'm riding on my Azenis'. that might be something else to consider

under heavy understeer, get off the gas a bit until you straighten the car. tap the brakes only if you are losing control of the wheel.

no matter what brand, there is a breaking point in the performance envelop when you go beyond the threshold its grip because of technique, weight, or bad spot on the road.

well i do it alot on a turn aorund my house, in the middle of the night when nobody is around.......and last night i took about a 90 degree turn at 65, and then accelerated through the apex........slid alot on the back end. i pushed the clutch in and trie to correct without braking, didnt work so well as a i kept sliding, so i let out the cltuch and floored it, got the tires to spin alot since they didnt have traction to begin with......and turned into the spin, and did a complete 540 to a dead stop. ended up facing the direction i came from...........it was awesome...........

It sounds like you went beyond the performance of the tires, and laws of physics were against you.

Of ourse, it's harder in the rain or snow to get grip. You have to put more than 3 times the effort to control the wheel before going berzerk.

BTW: you would have wiped out majorily if you had RWD.

BTW: you were trying to control the rear from sliding out, but it was never under control when you romped the throttle. The front broke loose afterwards in a spin.

Try editing your post instead of posting again.
