How can I know my brake is finished?
Also, brake pads usually have a squealer plate that will make a harsh metal sound when the pads are close to worn. The only downside to that is if you drive it too long with that sound, you'll be tearing your rotors up as well.
Now as for the suggestion above, when you're looking at them, just keep in mind that brand new pads on the Lancer usually have about 1/3" of meat on them. If you're down to 1/8" you probably need to replace them, and 25-30k seems to be the common mileage for Lancers to need new pads. Checking your rear drum brakes is a tad more involved, but come back in another 25k miles and ask us about that.
