take off your wheel, pop them out with the handle of a screw driver from the back side

Thats one way to do it. But the way that I did it was just by taking a flat head screwdriver(a very small one) and putting it between the wheel(steel part) and the center cap. It works just fine doing it this way and didnt damage anything. If you wanted, you could use a towel or some kind of cloth so that it wont scratch or damage anything. This is how my Mitsubishi mechanic told me to do it after they ruined 2 of them.

Is that the method they used to ruin them?

i just pop mine out from the back side. Just apply light pressure to the cap and it should come out.

LoL no. The method they used to ruin them was when they gave my car a "complementary wash". I am thinking they used a pressure washeer and all of the black paint that is on there washed off. But no, thats how they told me to do it, and I did it that way with no problems at all. Just my own experience with this.
