2004 lancer es engine swap
EB,
The ultimate struggle is putting a DSM motor (wrong way T-belt) in either the 5g mirage or the modern lancer. No one, except for Extreme Motorsport with an almost unlimited budget, was successful doing a DSM swap; then, he sold the car due to chassis problems.

5g mirage and current lancer must look at the Evo 4 and up, and I don't know their timeline of completion.
Every shop has a certain amount of time for completion. If it goes beyond their tolerance level, no matter how much money being tossed in their faces, it won't motivate them towards completion. Basically, in the end, you just have a piece meal car.

well, maybe if these guys manage the evo 6.5 motor into the mkVII body style, then they can tackle the DSM into a mkVI or VII
I'll stick with building the motor that came with the car.

easy big fella. The current body style of the lancer is #7 and on several body part sites they refer to is as Lancer mkVII. The 02-03 lancers are the MkVI body style. I'll see if I can't dredge up a link when I get home....
true, kinda. never seen it referred to as a mkVII. i kinda always thought a mk-anything referred to euro car generations like jettas and the like, except for supras. also has nothing to do with the fact that 02-03 is cs6a and 04+ are cs7a which some people seem to believe.

I thought the lancer chassis design was marked as "C"-whatever.
that's it i'm calling official bull**** on this thread. And here is why i call bull****:
A: if it was me, I'd have pics of the engine before it even went in.
B: i'd have borrowed a digital cam, or scanned a normal pic by now
C: i'd be so damn excited about it i wouldn't shut up about it and brag and brag
now can we shut this thread down? obviously the guys has a new excuse every week and sorry for the flame but i'm just sick and tired of waiting for something which will never come to fruition...
