That's a 3rd gen mirage . . . he can use either DSM or Evo 1-3 since his motor faces the same way. Also, he's one of our member.

BTW: 3rd and 4th gen mirage/lancer can do the DSM swap with relative ease. 5th and 6th gen mirage/lancer have to use Evo +4 , and the cost is high.

BTW 2: look how much be cut out on the floor board w/ new bracing. Welders love to do it.

"In late 2004, I purchased an engine-less 1990 Talon AWD. With the Talon and Mirage parked side by side in the garage my work began. I enlisted the help of a friend and within one weeks time, approximately 70 hours of labor, the Mirage became All-Wheel-Drive. I spent hours with a sawzall removing old rear panhard mounts and rear floor paneling in the Mirage. I installed an AWD transmission and transfer case. I used angle iron and flat steel stock to construct drive shaft mounting points and rear differential cross members. With my finger permanently attached to my MIG welder, I spent hours welding custom mounts and brackets to hold the drive line together. By using a tape measure to determine wheelbase and equality, I mounted the rear end permanently in place. I also constructed new front and rear engine mounts due to the transfer case being mounted where the old engine cross member was located. The car was aligned within specification, proving that my primitive mounting efforts lined up the tires nearly perfect. I installed a factory fresh TRE race transmission with a Quaife front differential, providing power to both front wheels. The front to rear ratio was locked to 50/50 with a welded center differential coupled with a stock viscous limited slip differential rear. "

AdamJ39 is another member, and I think he has done it the fastest swap w/ an E4 motor.

There are 2 more members are currently at various stages in the swap.

Edit: After reading my board a bit, I have underestimated the devaluation of Evo motors since the arrival of the E8 on US shores. Since the E8, there seemed to balance out the demand for the supply of Evo motors. I think I'll have to PM Lan_evo on an update.

and ECU is different... and belts are different... and they're hard to find....

for the kind of money you're looking at, buy a RalliArt I think the only piece that will be easy is the mating to the tranny, because I think Mitsu kept those the same

Wow Baha.

AdamJ went with an EVO motor?
He was the first to swap in the 4G94 about a year or so ago. I wonder where he had disappeared to. Must be nice to be able to afford all that fabrication.

WADAD

I see if you go down the picture page there is the 4G94. I noticed he installed the weapon R engine dampener with some kind of fabricated brackets. CAn you find out from him what specs he used on those and whether or not he was able to use any of the supplied brackets?

I really doubt that's a pic of the swap that we're all here to hear about. Remember illuminati was saying the shop was ahving some problems and wanted him to come in? I don't think they resolved everything in 36hours and have the car totally back together.
