What could be damaged by sliding onto a curb?

Okay, so I was leaving Autozone today and tapped the brakes (shallow slush) and couldnt stop and hit a curb at about 5 mph.. nothing bad, but i did hop the curb and of course felt a very large Ba BUMP! Now when I switch gears and release the clutch i hear a clicking noise when I accelerate. What items could potentially be damaged by sliding up on a curb at 5 mph?

I think somone messed up a CV joint by doing the same thing a while back. There are LOTS of things that can go wrong when you hit stuff.... or it could just be that now you're paranoid over sounds that you've learned to block out

One of the links might be bent slightly or the CV joint .

Have the alignment checked, and the tech can tell you. I wouldn't wait.

when driving on the highway the steering wheel jerks left and right about 1mm... nothing big though. how much is the repair on a cv joint? What commercialized auto dealerships have free inspections... (btw i also just installed new brakes after bumpin the curb... so that might be the shakin too)

So would you say the steering wheel "wobbles" or "shimmies" or otherwise "vibrates" left and right? Or does it pull?

Did you check your rims? see if maybe you lost a balancing weight when you hit- that would be a very nice surprise to just have to have a wheel balancing

I think the CV joints will cost a few hundred to repair, depending on the place. I don't know how hard this is as a DIY..... and then again, it might not even be the CV

I would hope that 5MPH isn't enough to kill your rack.

I took out both control arms, struts, a wheel bearing, both tires and wheels, and did some body damage. I was going almost 35mph though. Total bill was $2000.

i had a very similar incident...i hit the curb going 5 mph (black ice is terrible)... total cost was 700 dollars and a free car eash. my CV joint was destroyed and my alignment was totally off...horrible x1000000000000000. For all you northern NJ residents - go to Robbies Auto Shop in Dover NJ if you have repairs. They are professional and will def. take care of you!

1, check your rims and make sure you didn't bend them
2, get an alignment (99.999% chance you threw that off)
3, check the CV joints and suspension arms
4, make sure you didn't bottom out enough to push that skid plate up into the transmission. It's pretty strong, but when I bottomed out over a bump, it dented it. So yours could be rattling against the tranny.

god you all are lucky... i naild a curb on some ice going about 25-30 bent both rims, bent passenger side suspension, control arms, broke the axle, and some body damage, which is why i think my wheel rubs a lil while turning on an incline. thats all i can think of off the top of my head and that ran me like 3-4k thank god for full coverage.

Full coverage is nice, but the month after my accident the raised my insurance 50%. 5 years with them, no moving violations or accidents and as soon as something happens they jack the insurance up.
