Seat Install Problem

Alright I got a set of the seats out of the ralliart from a member on here, and I've run into a snag. It seems the shop that installed his aftermarket seats cut of the 4 mount points and as such I can't install the seats. Everything else is there, just not the mounting points, is there anything I can do other than have the mounting points taken off my old seats and welded onto the new?

you could always get new rails... or like you said cut off your mounting points and have them welded on(dont know if that would be totally safe though)

Do you still have your old seats? If so then just transfer the top and bottom of the seats to your old brackets. The seat come apart pretty easily. If you look in the how to section there is a thread about how to do it I think.

Heres the link https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=67427

alright might do that, does anyone know how to take just the rail off? If I could that I'd be set.

im pretty sure the rail is held on by 2 hex screws. Youll have to move the rail forward and back to get to each of them though. It happened to me when I bought my recaros so I bought a enw rail for that part.

You managed to switch the rail? Was it as simple as taking the screws off?

If you have the same old seats as my OZ lancer.. you will never get them apart. They have compressed rivet things holding them together. I broke a craftsman screwdriver, a pry bar, and hack saws trying to get them separated.. it does not work. They are not made to come apart. It isn't safe to take them apart and use them for new seat rails either. I'm just trying to save you some time. Try getting the floor mount fixed. It will be cheaper and save you pain in the long run.

Im not saying to take them apart. Im saying to take the top and bottom of the seat cusions off and switch them with the other ones. It can be done. The bottom cusion comes off with a couple bolts. The top one takes a little more work but it is not too hard. I did it myself trying to use the original seat brackets to put in some racing seats but they didnt fit so I just put them back together.

I can vouch for 2002lancer-oz. When one guy was lying about buying my seat brackets, I removed the cushions. Didn't take too much work. Although I can't say how easy it would be to reassemble.

Whats actually involved in removing the top cushion? I'm still probably just gonna go the welding path simply cause the ralliart seats have height adjustment that my stock ES's don't unless I can keep that function when I switch the parts.
