somthing easier to do that doest invole putting a hole in it would be to take off the pipe after the cat....and move it to the side and use 1 bolt to hold it inplace. a little more explination you have 2 bolts holding it to the CAT. take them both off....then bolt the left side of the catback exhust to the right side of the CAT. it pretty easy and savs u from having to put a hole in it, and it looks like ur exhaust is still on. ur goin to loose power either way. and that does sound more than ricey...oh wait im goin to say it...GHETTO rigged exhaust. but im not goin to lie...i did it for about a week...its loud as fu(k and forget talking to someone else in the car. i just got the Magnaflow exhasut from RRM.

A former coworker did that on his Cavalier. Took a hacksaw and cut a sliver out of his exhaust just before the muffler.

1, it sounds REALLY REEEEEALLy ricey
2, if you cut it AFTER the cats, you shouldn't have any problems with performance or smog
3, if you cut it BEFORE the cat, you might not pass smog... although if they didn't notice and only did the sniffer, they might think you have the cleanest running Lancer around! MAAAAYBE (I know someone who's car didn't pass smog because the lack of a gas cap caused inadequate fuel pressure and made it run lean!!!)

Why the h*ll would you want to sound ricey. Are you try to fit in with the Honda crowd or what? I'm confussed as h*ll as to why anyone would do this.

rofl.. just put a hole in your exhaust manifold and take the whole exhaust off before the CAT. Now that is loud. When my friend bought his civic, it had a cracked header and no exhaust. It was nearly 110dB when we recorded it with a mic @ 4k RPMs. lol.

yea, my buddy ordered and exhaust for his eclipse. we took off the old one, and another buddy ran to get some hardware for the install or something, well while we waited, we started the car. Its just had headers and a downpipe, WOW, talk about NASCAR, lol. it was loud as hell. i'm truly suprised the neighbors didn't get pissed.

I had the bolts that connect the downpipe to the header come loose and the downpipe was just hanging disconnected from the header. That was loud as hell and everytime I would stop at a light I would almost pass out from the fumes

Dude, I can beat all of that.

In my '69 Camaro. 327 small-block engine. We started the car with no exhaust. Not even the headers. Fire was coming out the exhaust ports on the heads. It was great.
