no, I don't know exactly where it is, but if the ECU isn't monitoring oil level, then how does the oil light come on? Or I could be wrong and there's just no way for any of us to know that our engines are going to grenade on us at any minute because there's not a system monitoring any of it.
Could be---If I understand the system correct, the red oil pressure light on the dashboard has absolutely nothing to do with the Service Engine Soon light. I guess an example I can think of off the top of my head is when you change your oil and start the car the first time after changing it. The light comes on or flickers for a few seconds until the oil pressure stabilizes because the oil filter was replaced. (No oil in the filter at first.) This doesnt cause a Service Engine Soon light. I looked in the manual and there are no OBD II codes for "low oil level".

Sounds like both an oil issue and a possible hurting when you were doing turbo applications. More than likely you detonated enough and it hurt a rod bearing... over time the bearing wore in more and finally froze up. Once that happened the rod locked and got chucked do to the other cylinders still working.
Good luck with your repairs.
To back up dookie... there is no oil level indication for the lancer. Only thing it has is the oil pressure sensor. That is indicated via the oil can light in the dash. It a dummy ground style sensor... one wire... works on continuity principles.
