Why does my Lancer suck with slight headwinds?
Got a stock 05 Lancer ES, and for some reason I think this is the lousiest car I have ever driven in the aerodynamics department. Driving on the highway @70mph with winds at roughly 20mph, and I almost couldn't keep the car on the road. I never experienced this in a giant minivan, or any other car I have owned. Why is this? Is there any way to help keep the car planted on the road without being blown all over the place?

You can lower the car for better handling and get better tires, that'd be a start. Or you could drop a couple bags of cement into the trunk for some serious weight.

Yea, what will really stabilize your car is lowering springs and a spoiler. When I added the Evo VIII wing to my car I noticed a HUGE difference on the highway. The back end stays down much better and doesn't bounce around when I hit bumps. Also I could take the off ramps 10+mph faster without my tires skidding. When I added my lowering springs it was 10x better on the highway. The car sticks down to the road and doesn't get blown around at all. Also coupled with my 17x7 tires, I can take those off ramps at 65+mph now.
Yea, definetly look toward lowering springs and a spoiler. People say spoilers are pointless on a FWD car.. think again and actually drive a car with one opposed to one without a spoiler. You will be able to tell.

I'm checking into the springs now, I see they are $169@rrm, still running stock steelies, so lowering springs are still ok? Even for when I get my 16's next year? I won't need the camber kit with the springs will I? Anyone know of cheaper price for springs with stock everything else?
Could always get a front splitter, rear spoiler and full coilovers so you can adjust to whatever you want, that'll help keep you planted. Oh, and wider rims and tires should be good as well.
$169 at RRM is a good deal. Personally I like ordering from RRM. I got a broken shipment and they exchanged it no problem very quickly. Also they have very good tech support if you have a question. I don't believe you will need a camber kit if you go with lowering springs from them. I have my Eibach springs which lower the car 1.3in front, and 1.2in rear. I use my 15in OZ rims in the winter and 17in Motegi rims in the summer and I haven't had a problem with tires wearing unevenly or a out of whack camber where you can see the tires angled out. But since the kit from RRM for the ES lowers the car 1.7in front and 1.5in rear, it might make the camber angle out more. I would try out the springs first and see how it goes. The only time I have seen peoples camber angle out a lot is with coilovers when they lower their car like 3in.
after i got my wing (rrm raliart cf spoiler) i experienced this more than i do now..i think the wing REALLy helps..plus it give u something pretty to look at when ur crusin ...
