SRI problem / How do i keep it from moving?
Can anyone with a filter, or SRI help a brotha out. I installed a filter in my lancer, and had a piece of alluminum to anchor it and keep it from rocking around in the bay. But somehow it BROKE? And the filter sits realllly low- almost like it's hanging . I realize it's either the (weight of the filter) or (the stock rubber tubing that's so flexible), Anyways, the question > What can i do to keep that filter from moving? I thought about custom doing some piping for a SRI, but not sure.
This also happened to me. The end of the piece of aluminum that came with my SRI to anchor it down snapped so I used some wire to tie it down to the neighboring bolts. Its only temporary. And yes its ghetto but it works. Ill probably try to anchor it again if I find a similar size piece of aluminum..

I got one of those SRI's from ebay. ya know? w/ the cone filter, the adapter plate, and the other sh*t that comes w/ it. It's not like a full piping or anything like i want. Yeah, So mine is temporary. but my boy told me to put the STOCK box back on there, and just load it up w/ the K&N filter u can get from like autozone or O'Reily's auto parts. I might just have to do that, cause i hate having my filter bounce around in the engine bay.
i had the same problem, modelchris - i broke that damn "bracket" 3 times on my ebay intake. I eventually gave up..
What you need is a "hard pipe" that goes from the Throttle body to the MAS (rather than the bendy rubber one). Kinda like what the AEM CAI uses .. it will hold it in place without needing a bracket.

yeah i'm gonna buy an intake from a honda or something, and get a muffler shop to cut it up and BEND it for me - but for now . i just put my stockie back in there. i'm sooo sick of that bracket. it's cheap sh*t, and i don't want to ghetto rig my car. i did buy a WIX filter though for the stock. If ANYONE does a custom piping job, post pics . Oh, and i dont think a CAI will fit an ES auto. I've looked in the bay, and i dont think there's room for a pipe to go near the battery down to the fender wells.
^ How many threads are you gonna start about yer SRI??? Buy a drop in and it still sucks compaired to the SRI. If you buy an intake and have a muffler shop bend it, it will probably get f*cked up. All you need is like an 80 degree elbow made out of METAL. Stop making threads on this topic and BUY a dang intake. After all the money you waste on diff. sh*t and paying people to mess it up, you could've just bought a decent SRI..

man you contradict yourself, you say you dont want to ghetto rig your car but you buy an ebay intake? then go on to say your gonna buy an intake from a honda and have a muffler shop bend it? thats ghetto.....buy a damn intake.

dude - just use our stock bend.....the flex stuff, and use the SRI adapter plate from the ebay intake with a cone filter. it wont be a brand name. it will be DIY intake......
