how many of you have racing seats?
in the next few months im going to save up some cash to get some racing seats. so i was wondering to the people out there who already have them are they worth it? is there a noticible comfortable difference? i've seen a lot of threads for which seats to get and which seats are a good deal but i havent read any reviews( i think) so yah any feedback would be nice, peeaace.
What do you do with your old seats? The only thing stopping me from getting some is that my parents do not want anymore stuff in the garage so I can't store em anywhere. And since they are OZ seats who the hell would buy em?
but yah i was searching on ebay..most of the prices are around 300-400 shipped. they look pretty comfortable, so it should be worth the $$$ i also like the seat belts

Since the stock Lancer seats are so crappy, you will probably be happy with some aftermarket seats. I personally loved my Corbeau CR1, no numb butt even with a 3 hour nonstop, stop-and-go traffic commute.
From a racer perspective, you will get even more from the seats as they will keep you from sliding around while you're trying to make delicate imputs on the steering wheel.
I highly recommend getting name brand seats for safety reasons (Sparco, Recaro, Corbeau, Cobra, etc.). I have heard of cheaper brands breaking, sending the driver tilting to the other side of the car. Keep in mind the seatbelts work in conjunction with the seat to keep you in place.
As for the seatbelts pictured above, they are dangerous. 4 point harnesses won't allow your head to move out of the way should the roof collapse in a rollover accident. So you'd want to have a roll bar in as well. Also, if the back is not attached high enough (less than 4" below your shoulders) the shoulder straps will literally crush your spine in the event of a frontal impact.
Don't get me wrong, 4 and 5 point harnesses are great if combine with a roll bar or cage and made of high quality webbing, but they're not very practical for street cars. I would just go with some pretty shoulder pads and yank on the stock seatbelt to engage the lock if you want to be firmly strapped in.

That's really a lot of info, but I also flat out don't like the hassle of the 4 point harnesses. I tried to get in and out of them in another person's car and it seemed like a pain in the @ss for an every day driver type of car.
i put in a pair of CORBEAU seats and im regreting it. They look sweet, but for in and out rides around town and long drives, they are a complete nightmare. The comfort level has dropped tremendously and im noticing my back is hurting a lot more, not to mention my wallet. Also, since we have a 4dr, in order to have harnesses we need that harness bar, and the only application i have found anywhere close is from sparco for the EVO VII and VIII for $399, so I have the seats, but no harnesses, I probably could have done a better job researching this..
After having sat in a few evo seats, I felt highly uncomfortable sitting back in my regular lancer seats and I had the urge to save up for some racing seats sometime soon. But the only problem is that the name brand seats like Sparco and Recaro can get really expensive ($1500 for a pair of decent ones) and the cheap ones found on eBay (for like $300-400 a pair) are generic seats with logos stitched onto them to make them look genuine so I'm a bit critical of their quality and durability.

I stopped by the local Mitsu dealership yesterday to take a seat in both the stock Evo Recaros and the Ralliart seats, but there were no Ralliarts on the lot! This is definitly something I want to look in to, not because I track my car regularly, but because I'd still appreciate something a little more comfortable on a spirited drive. Not to mention the price point of the stock Ralliart Lancer seats is easier on the wallet.
