When did everyone first fall in love with the Evo?

Just curious(bored maybe?)but when did everyone first find their unrivalled affection for the EVO?

From: houston tx,
The moment I fell in love with the EVO was during the movie Who Am I with jackie chan. I think it was during the part in the chase scene with the evo when they do that crazy little turn then back into the parking spot. Something about that just seemed so amazingly cool to me. I started just browsing around the WWW gathering info, and the more I learned, the more interested I became about owning one. I bought the DVD of Who Am I just for that chase scene, and I still watch it all the time. Come to think of it, The Evo probably sparked my entire interest in Automobiles.

Well I used to be an Evo fan after watching WRC races on TV. But my life changed when I first rode in an Evo IV on an airfield and after 2 laps in that machine I knew I would not settle for anything less if I ever buy a high performance car.

On the test drive . I'd just realised that I couldn't *quite* afford the payments on a new R34 skyline (54000 UK), and was shopping for something within my budget with enough grunt to be fun. Thought about Scoob STi and the Evo (both around 25000 UK), drove the Evo first and handed the cash over there and then

Had I driven the scoob first I'm sure I'd own one of those now... I'm an impulsive buyer .

I knew the evo from GT 1 and 2 but when I saw the Evo VII at the NY Auto show last year I was just amazed at how awsome the car was. I hope driving one is as inspiring.

Like Numpty I was looking into a Skyline R34 GTR and at first the price put me off and as the 6 started to get more press had a closer look and started realising where the Evo is better compared to the Skyline and I still think it's more of a drivers car because of less electronics and a LOT less weight. Then a test drive, and the rest is history...

I saw them on the WRC footage on Speedvision and liked them.

Then I saw my first one in person in July of 1998. At the 1998 Maine Forest Rally, it was driven by David Summerbell. It was an Evo IV at the time. Seeing them in person is SO much better than seeing them in pictures.

Since then, I've seen a tremendous number of Evo IV's, around 3-4 Evo V's and 3 Evo VI's. Evo VI is my favorite by far.

When I was in high school in Hong Kong, I saw this nice EVO I/II parked on the street and then I saw another EVO III parked right across the street from it and Jackie Chan stepped out...I was like, what kind of car is this???? then I do some research....

I don't remember how I came upon this machine. I think it was destiny. All of the sudden, I just knew...

The First time I had even ever heard of an Evo was a couple of months ago, right after I bought my Lancer. Now, you must know that I am not that informative when it comes to cars. I first saw the Lancer in my apartment complex and knew I had to have one. After looking it up and checking it out I bought it that day. Since then I have found out about it's history and also about the Evo. All of my friends and family have never heard of the Lancer or Evo, but they all think that it is one of the sharpest cars out there. I have had my car for almost two months now and I love it. Can't wait for the Evo to get here in the states........

I fell in love with the Evo the first time I saw Tommy Makinen driving it on speedvision a couple of years ago.....It was a beautiful sight to behold....
