Catback installed, now weird idle sound?
Yesterday I installed my Buschur catback, and all went well. Ever since then my car seems to idle up and down, but the rpm indicator doesn't move. Yes I reset the ECU too. It sort of sounds like when you tap the gas at idle you hear the humm of the magnaflow, except I'm not tapping the gas. The car never did this before the catback, and nothing under the hood was touched except disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 20 minutes or so, then reconnecting it and letting the car idle for another 20 minutes or so after the catback was installed. Any ideas? Car runs fune too while driving.
Make sure everything's nice and tight, and you may want to replace the gasket with a new one, even if you already have. You're not seeing a CEL by any chance? It's possible the you damaged the cat or knocked the O2 sensor out of whack. 20 minutes of time should have been plenty, but consider disconnecting the battery for about an hour and then do a 15 to 20 minute relearn. If that doesn't help, haul it to the dealer.
Or, if you have time and want to be 100% sure of the problem, rehang the factory exhaust. If you still have the problem, take it to the dealer with the factory exhaust installed, less chance of catching flak that way.

No CEL, replacing the gasket is next to impossible being as how this is an 05 and they changed the gasket, all metal gasket now. Looks like nothing I have seen. Even has a different part number than prior years and no gasket to be found no where according to Mitsu, something that has to be ordered they said. Car only has 6000 miles on it and the gasket was mint looking when I took the exhaust off from the cat back.

Actually I did notice today that the rpm indicator is moving up and down slightly when it does this, and no the a/c is not on, nor the engine fan when it does this.
does your car smoke at all? if it does im pretty sure thats it. my car smokes when i start it and pretty much everytime i stop and then go, btw: my car and motor have 34,000 miles on them, im very dissapointed. my dad sad my valve seals are shot and the extra pure oil is messing with my idle. my car was in a VERY light front end crash(only needed new bumper cover) and now wonderful ertley motorworld is saying my intake caused it, im ***ced. anyway, try to hang the stock exhaust again, and did you drive around abit to let the ecu complete its relearn?

Sorry dude, but there isn't no way an intake is going to blow your valve seals, they told you that just so it won't be covered under warrenty. If that were the case then next time mitsu takes one off to clean out a throttle body, blame them because no intake is in essence a modified intake.
Mine does it all the time, and it's ever so slight too. I can't even notice it unless I pop the hood and listen to the engine, or stare at the rpm indicator.

just a quick note for maxum, there was a law passed that says the dealership must show you specifically how the intake caused the valve seals to blow. Thats the biggest bunch of BS ever, and if they try to fight it just threaten to hire a lawyer, they know the laws and they will back down because they have no chance fighting that
I know this is a silly suggestion but could it be that your car alsways did that and you just didn't notice when it wasn't as loud. Most cars idles flucuate a little bit. Expecially if you are using acessories (A/C, Heater, Amp/Subs)
