I think the 04 Lancers look like the nissan altimas in the front pretty ugly. But right when i buy a 03 lancer, the 04 lancers have more power. Powered by 2.4 liter 160 hp inline 4. I personally think they should have turbocharged it or do something for it to compete with the regular 220 hp WRX. The Evo can compete with the WRX STI.

what i don't get, is why in the heck are they redesigning it for 2004, and then AGAIN for 2006 with the shared dodge platform???

its not like the lancer isn't popular as it is now. freaking a. keep the oz package about the same (or just replace it with the ralliart), but throw in the 160hp engine, some different rims, fog lamps, abs, sunroof, etc. and i'd be VERY happy with that as an option!

EDIT:my opinion changed. go vote here:

i think its an acquired taste...i saw one in person briefly and it looked good...well atleast the Wagon version looks good to me.

btw, that Accolade bodykit for the 04 make it look like an RSX or a Camry Solara

look to me liek the front is the only new thing on the 04 and possible the fram is the same, if so, i possibly see a front end swap to make i tlook liek a 02-03 lancer... hmm.. now some one needs to buy an 04 wreck it so i can buy it at a junk yard, and possible swap the engine, or front end on my oz to the 04.... the possiblilties if they have the same frame and all...

I keep saying in every thread this car comes up in: the chassis is the same, it's simply a body panel revision.

Sorry dude but I think your wrong. Although majority of the conversion will be bolt on body panels...Visually you can see that the headlights are bigger than our 02-03 Lancers. The top of the fender is alot shorter. So, my guess is that the radiator support will need to be changed as well...the mounting points and different dimensions for the headlights will require us 02-03 Lancers to change our radiator support plus since the grill is now part of the bumper i would guess that the hinge/hook for the hood will need to be relocated upwards on the 02-03 Lancers as well.

here comparison. The hood latch would need to be raised up since the hood is alot higher now...i can imagine that the hook under the hood would be higher so relocation of the 02-03 Lancers latch would need to be relocated to a higher spot.

The fender on the 04 is alot shorter up top and the headlights are alot bigger so i can see that ATLEAST a radiator support conversion would need to be done[which is easy and common...JDM Integra Type-R conversions on US integras require this as well]

now for the bad news i capped the word ATLEAST because if the headlights dimensions in the rear for the housing is big then i would have to warn you guys that the fenders structure would need to be trimmed as well in order to fit the headlights...but i'm not 100% sure on this it is a possibility though...I will need to look under the hood of a 04 Lancer before i can say a definite answer on this. so, dont get your hopes to high...sorry.
