2004 Lancer press release, pics, and now, TEST DRIVE!
All ill say is im glad i bought my 2002 OZ instead of waiting for the 2004 mitsubishi ion... i mean lancer. I knew that chrysler would of influence on this as this platform will also be the same for the perennially ugly neon.
kaka!
that looks like a freakin Honda Civic Hybrid bah...i like the current styling that the Lancers have now but that 2.4L sounds tasty...im gonna have to look into a possible motor swap in the future...

actually im gonna have to take a closer look especially under the hood.
the body seems to be very similar to the current lancers now...it looks like they just gave it a face lift...if they did and im almost sure they did...build it off the 02-03 chassis Lancers then it will most likely be possible to do a 02-03Lancer front conversion! the headlights are obviously sitting higher on the 04 Lancers so...from this picture all i can see is that in order to do a 02-03 front end conversion onto an 04 would be the front fenders, hood, front bumper, radiator support, headlights and maybe the front support bar from an 02-03 Lancer...its just like doing a evo4-6 conversion with the Mirages it should be fairly simple if you know how to do bodywork.
so there is hope for the guys who want to get the 04 for its power potential and still have the 02-03 look. You can also cut costs if you get aftermarket bumpers and hoods. If you shop around autobody supply shops they'll most likely have 02-03 OEM parts for cheap by the time the 04's come out.

yea, the headlights look pretty cool, but that grill is just awful
the hood's angle is way too steep..i cant wait til i get a closer shot of the whole car, especially the back
