2004 Lancer press release, pics, and now, TEST DRIVE!
for the lazy:

well, with that closer look, it's not anywhere near beautifull..
rear is ok, i prefer less round curves.. like my old 1990 integra or the current lancer.
And that strut bar in front has a pretty odd shape!

interesting...the whole rear has enough of a difference to tell between a 02-03 Lancer and an 04...oh well i dont think the competition would be able to tell unless they owned one or studied the car enough...
seems to me they go the styling off of the thai lancers rear the trunk is rounder and has a higher point in the top center of the trunk...and that motor is juicy...also now that i got to look under the hood the radiator support will definately need to be replaced if the 04 owners want to do a front conversion...the fenders mounting points have been cut those are really short fenders!...the headlights definately need to be changed...at closer inspection they remind me of the new nissan sentra/maxima which ever one comes with the big ol' altezza taillights in the back.

According to autoweek...The Lancer Ralliart Edition will replace the O-Z...with a new 2.4l outputting 160HP...
"The special edition vehicle, named after Mitsubishi’s World Rally Championship team, gets a new 2.4-liter sohc four-cylinder powerplant with variable valve timing, capable of 160 horsepower and mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. The car will start under $18,000, according to Mitsubishi, and hit showrooms this fall along with the reskinned ’04 Lancer."

2.4L SOHC? good god thats a huge SOHC motor! why didnt they just go with a DOHC motor that has lower displacement? the 1.6 Mivec produces 10hp more than that 2.4L! bah im sure they have their reasons...
Oh and Evolution GT-A seats...not bad basically a bit more sporty two toned versions of our seats with a sporty head rest and a bit more of a bucket seat feel. Same seats found in the Ralliart Lancer Cedia Wagons and Lancer Cedia sedan SportTouring

im gonna wait a year or two after 2004...the motors will be too damn expensive brand new our taken from a crashed 04 Lancer...3k-5k for swapping those in and you only get a 20hp gain...hmmmm i'll wait...im sure alot of companies are gonna make tons of products for these motors especially with the so called "MIVEC" technology in it...once those motors have more reputable parts then i'll jump on it.
i wonder what companies VVT technology they bit off of...
