Goodluck getting $10k on a trade-in for the car. Get the money and run with it. If you want a hatchback get the R32, but remember you'll have to move the front seats up anytime someone sits in the back... that can be a pain.

give your sister the lancer (I actually was going to give my sister my lancer too :P)

if you have that much money to play with get a newer and much nicer car. i would consider the EVO but it doesn't look like you want that. look at supra, 300ZX, camaro SS, vette Z06, how about crossfire srt-6?

That sounds like a sweet deal! Plus if your parents will help you out, most kids will drive anything for a first car and love it, you get some extra points for helping out your sis, and a new car is always awesome. At least the lancer is staying in the family! This is the samething my g/f did. Got rid of a 3.8 stang for a 05 civic. She loves the car and it is pretty fun with the 5spd and variable timing. New cars are sweet...

it all depends, If it were me I would probably buy a new car, but u also have to remember that if u just do the turbo kit then u wont have ne car payments, as if u were to buy a new car then u r lookin at another car payment, plus the money for the mods ur gonna want to do. Its defenitely a tough decision, but I think I would go with a SRT-4( yes its still a neon, but its a neon that will run all over almost every single lancer here, and they sounds better than any lancer Ive ever heard), or somthin like that.

i definitely need more time to think...

the lancer is payed off...all i pay for is the $130.00 insurance a month. A turbo kit would make my car FEEL like new and i wouldn't have to worry about a new monthly payment.

But then again how often do you get $8-10,000.00 for a downpayment towards a car. Oh btw i did some more research, a 97 Acura NSX, used, is around $25,000.00.

So I was thinking of using the $10g's as downpayment for one of these cars, all used of course:

2JZ TT Supra
R32 VW
Acura NSX
BMW M5

...it's not that i don't like the EVO or STI, those are monsters, it's just that they seem to come out with a new upgraded version every year. I want a car that stood the test of time and are very limited.

Don't forget about insurance, if your under the age of 25 decent insurance on something like an evo, wrx, nsx, etc. is going to be very high. Best bet would be to get something like a ralliart, its got 162 hp so its fast, but the insurance won't view it as a sports car, or performance sedan so you should only have to deal with a slightly higher rate.

^very good point, can anyone give an estimate for a TT Supra? I'm thinking insurance would be $200.00-$300.00 a month? someone out there has to know a friend that owns a TT Supra
