Engine cleaning?

What do you clean your engine with, and how often do you clean it?

I start with an old rag. Then move to a wet old rag. Then finish it off with a dry old rag. For the tough stuff I use a bit of simple green. Engine cleaners are silly in my opinion as they hurt the environment and make baby Jesus cry.

Spray it down, spray it simple green, scrub with a brush, then rinse it off. Then I dry it off and Armorall the rubber I've received lots of compliments of having one of the cleanest engines people have ever seen.

^^^ my bro and I rave about how well Armor-all holds up on all the rubber hoses and such under the hood. But before that, I use a $1 can of Gunk Engine-Brite. Use a smaller hand spray on mist mode...works well with me.

I just use this stuff called orange blast. Works great! Also I use blue magic metal cleaner for all the metal (rods, headers, etc) THen I polish it all up with some tire dressing (meguiars hot tire shine). Here's a pic of my engine all shined up...sorry for the poor quality.

smokin, it's a ractive engine hose dress up kit, but actually you could go to autozone and pick up a no name brand there. It's exactly the same.
