Read about it HERE , too much to copy.
I guess it was only a matter of time until Mitsu brought this car to the market, since they are trying to widen the audience of the Evolution series.

so, this might be the watered down version they were talking about? consistent with a less than 276HP rating? as long as they still sell the blistering gsr and rs version.
OMG, I feel sick to my stomach. If this comes to the US in place of the reall VII, I'm gonna be really pissed. I guess the 7 is really just a suspension upgrade and a new hood away, but still. My evo had better fawking come with a manual transmission or I'm not going to get one. I'll be getting an rx7 or a supra if the united states only gets automatic evos.
Man sooner or later it will happen and it did.
every other car has an automatic transmission on like turbocharged sports cars.. Mitsubishi wants to attract more people to buy so its just choices.
I think in america people does like automatice better but i dont think mitsubishi would be dumb enough to dont have a manual transmission for an EVO.
it will always be MANUAL for a cheaper price haha

You are right, Mitsubishi has made the 7 appeal more to the masses than earlier Evos. It handles better, its faster, better built and finished, its more comfortable and its more descreet. Surely only the last one might be considered by some as a bad thing.
But I do agree with everybody about the auto version. It is total b##ls##t. However, don't forget that Scooby do detuned versions of the Impreza which are available in auto, and they always have done. The GTA is nothing without its high performance brother. I see this as evendence that Mitsubishi will keep the Evo range hot, because then they can sell detuned auto versions to the masses.

Why the hostility?
As long as Mitsubishi continues to offer a manual transmission, I don't have a problem with an automatic option. It only widens the appeal and adds to the sales tally. Numbers are important; they will help Mitsu make a strong business case to Daimler/Chrysler for the continued development of the Evolution series. If DCX senses that the car costs too much to develop relative to the projected sales volume, they will pull the plug in a heart-beat.
The fact that Mitsubishi is looking like an also-ran in WRC this year won't help.
hehe only 200hp...my NA impreza almost has that much power now
Um, read again. Thats 200 KiloWatts, or 272 h.p. I only hope we get that much power in the US version.
BTW- Anyone wanna bet how close the body is to the U.S. spec version when it comes out?

Anything that comes onto the market as edgy and exciting and sells well for a company is bound to get watered down for the masses...same goes for music...sad but true...I certainly wouldn't but one. I guess I can play devil's advocate here at the same time though and say...hey all they wanna do is make money...which is true. I don't know some things just aren't right. sniff-sniff
